I was wondering what you all thought about Daggerfall being in stores
on the 16th. I mean didn't you get yours on the 12th? You paid $100
for a t-shirt and a 4 day head start? Seems way overpriced. I mean the
game is going for $64.99 at the St. Louis area Babbages so you got a
$35.00 t-shirt. Or did you get the clue book also? If so, the cluebook
is $15.99 so then the t-shirt would only be $19. Please correct me if
I'm wrong but I know for a fact that the game is already at the local
distributors and seems you guys got taken. Still I'm sure the 4 days
is a nice little lead. I mean you'll still see/find stuff before us
"wait and see" buyers.

Let's put it this way. The hint book was 20 dollars the game will
probably be about 60 dollars with tax. So that is 10 bucks for AT LEAST
4 days of game play and nicknacks.

I wish I had pre-ordered. I am jealous of the LEers.

Only $89.00! Their web page said $99.00! Was there a deal because you
run a daggerfall web page or did it go for $89.00 to everyone? I
haven't looked at Bethesda's page in quite awhile but $89.00 with the
cluebook isn't too bad of a deal. Of course they gave you the cluebook
because they couldn't keep their earlier promises, which I thought was
a decent gesture. I bought the cluebook already, even though I don't
have the game, and although it looks real detailed I'm hoping there's
not alot of micromanagement involved. What do you think so far?

Acutally, my credit card was only charged $84.99. Why, because if you
REGISTER at the Bethsoft site you get $5.00 in (whatever, money) which
can be used against a purchase. So in total, I got the Daggerfall LE
with all of the stuff, and was playing it on 9/12/96 for $84.99.

I don't feel I was shafted.

Regards,

Joe...

Their Web page said $99 a long time ago, when I ordered it a month or so
ago the page said $89. No kidding!

I'm pretty happy with my LE copy. It came with the tee shirt, a mouse pad
and the
hint book.

Not yet a Daggerfall owner, but in stores on the 16th? Where? What
stores? BestBuy. Compusa, Egghead's, Micro Center (to name four of the places
I've visited during the past couple of days) don't have it.

will have the game for at least two weeks before us Wait & See'rs.
Game is supposedly a little buggy but not too bad and I'm dying to
play it. Bought Albion today to tide me over.

I paid $89.00 and so far have gotten the game at least a week before its
store release. I don't feel cheated one bit. Besides, it will most likely
be selling for $60.00 at Electronics Boutique, now add the $17.00
cluebook...well you get the picture. Besides, the game is a lot of
fun...it is worth the money.

First off all, I was saying that all alone (I'm a L.E. owner) but
noooo, everyone jumped right in and (as usual) started preaching
things like "see, it's coming only 4-5 days after L.E. owners got
theirs--sure glad _I_ didn't pre-order." Told ya' you should've
listened to Bethesda when they said _at least a week before_.

Second, I manage one of these Software Etc's and was _the_ first to
issue a rebuttal when someone called Babbages, got our computer
release date (which is never 100% accurate because, hey, _we're_ not
the vendors--we're as much at their whim as _you_ are). I pointed out
that _date's change_.

No one "pulled your chain" You just fell victim to the same thing
_we_ did--you believed the date Bethesda gave us. EB, Best Buy,
Software Etc, Babbages, and all the rest of 'em don't have a thing to
do with then the product comes in. We're essentially just
"secretaries" for the big companies when it comes down to things like
release dates--we "take memos" and pass them on to the rest of the
public...and, as you know, our "memos" are oftentimes "off" the mark.

When someone at a software store says "it'll be in on such and such a
date" they're simply referring to the date the computer is giving
them. What I do (and what they should be doing also) is let the
person to whom I'm speaking know that this is just a tenative date and
to get on a courtesy call list so we can call _them_ back instead of
putting them in the position of having to call every day to check.
