are just grayed out for me. And on the EAX website Diablo 2 is
prominently featured.

I had the same problem. To fix it I had to download the latest SBLive
version, then the latest patch to that version. There's a troubleshooter tip
on the Blizzard website on it here:

Thanks for the pointer. I tried it and it works now.
I'm running in Wk2000 so I'm screwed in this regard, however someone posted
some time earlier that if your running Win95/98 you can download the latest
Liveware - up to Ver3.0 - and a additional patch file sblw9xup.exe and you
should be fine.

Why? LiveWare 3.0 for Windows 2000 has been available on
www.soundblaster.com for several weeks now. It supports EAX 2.0 and
it works fine with Diablo 2 -- on my system anyway. No patch needed.
