I recently switched to the SB Live soundcard anticipating EAX effects
with Diablo 2 (which I have been playing for some time now). But I
still do not get those sound options to choose from when playing the
game. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game (including the
3rd patch) , but that did not help. I have enabled the "play EAX game
with EAX normal effects" on the SB Live control panel and still
nothing has changed. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.

I don't think D2 supports EAX...or any 3D sound for that matter. I haven't
seen any options for it and I've had a SBLIVE for a long time now. I don't
see why it would really need it since it's top down.

If you go to sound options it definitely has 3D selections......they
are just grayed out for me. And on the EAX website Diablo 2 is
prominently featured.

I had the same problem. To fix it I had to download the latest SBLive
version, then the latest patch to that version. There's a troubleshooter tip
on the Blizzard website on it here:

Thanks for the pointer. I tried it and it works now.

I'm running in Wk2000 so I'm screwed in this regard, however someone posted
some time earlier that if your running Win95/98 you can download the latest
Liveware - up to Ver3.0 - and a additional patch file sblw9xup.exe and you
should be fine.

Why? LiveWare 3.0 for Windows 2000 has been available on
www.soundblaster.com for several weeks now. It supports EAX 2.0 and
it works fine with Diablo 2 -- on my system anyway. No patch needed.
