I forget her name. Cynthia, Crystal, something. Anyhow, she's the
one who says she's come to the Blades with her husband. What's up
with that bizarre conversation thread she has? It lists a few
letters, the word "ducks", allows the PC a response of ducks and
letters, and then seems related to the bug that leaves the Blades'
leader in a pool of blood.

Try saying what is on the screen out loud.

It goes:

her: C D E D B D Ducks
you: M R Not Ducks!
her: O S M R! C D E D B D Wings!
you: O I B M R Ducks!

(The last B is a typo, it should be a C)

Should be S A R! (Yes they are)

Actually, it should be Y I B M R Ducks (Why I be!, them are ducks...)
With a southern drawl accenting it all.

Hm. I'm just obtuse I guess.

Where I was brought up, it was L I B M R Ducks (Well, I be...), and done in a
rural accent from southwestern England.

I suspect the ancient Greeks had a version of this, though they probably
used all the wrong letters and did it in a funny accent, too!

"See the itty-bitty ducks"
"Them are not ducks!"
"Oh yes them are! See the itty-bitty wings!"
"Oh, I see (be?) them are ducks!"

Around the Chesapeake Bay the phrase is still in use today. You can't
shoot a Duck during Goose season so, "M R Ducks!" is still in use :)
