That's the first secret level and in it you have to kill off all the
misbehaving imps in a limited timeframe.
You need not start with a dragon as that's determined when you
exercise your "Transfer Option" in the prior game.

Hmmm... I wonder...
I found a "secret realm" iten on Level 8 (at the top, behind a magic
door, surrounded by lightning traps); I used it, but I still went on to the
next NORMAL realm! No matter whether I use the "secret realm" or not, I
still go to normal dubgeon! What am I doing wrong? Could it be that I
finally got the "secret realm" thing AFTER I defeated the Lord of the
Realm?..

The secret realm in question is a separate icon on the lower right
corner of the "countryside" map. After finishing the level where you
find it, you can either go on to the next level or select the secret
level by scrolling to the bottom and right of the map screen.

I've seen a few different suggestions on how to kill those pesky imps,
but seriously, only this one worked for me.
Go to the lava room, drop four or five at a time (pick em up by using
the creature display panel), slap em silly, they will fall into the lava
and die faster. Works great... Make sure you slap em up against the
northern wall btw.. =)
I kill about 16 of them with the rolling boulders, most the rest with
the opponents dragon. Then I slap the rest silly against a wall.

Well, I usually grab a strong creature, possess him and set off some
traps, let him leave when his health drops down, and grab another
creature. Repeat until traps are destroyed.

I never liked real-time strategy games, but Dungeon Keeper really allows
me enough control to not feel rushed. So many different ways to move
around critters and get to different rooms, just using the mouse! I for
one am glad Bullfrog held onto this until they were done.

The lava is an okay way, but if you go through the western door, you'll
encounter a few enemy imps. Get past them, and there is a boulder trap
that'll kill off quite a few of the little buggers. Then keep going past
that and an enemy hell hound breaks loose. Kills 'em damn fast.

I agree. In fact, I'll say that Dungeon Keeper isn't a real time
strategy game, its more of a Dungeon simulator. The game CAN go on and
win on its own without user input. None of this, click on someones
head, go here, repeat 10000000 times.

Also as far as how hard the game is, I played one level that seemed impossible
to win. After I lost the level restarted and the A.I. was brain dead. I'm not
sure what the trigger was, maybe he built too many imps the second time. But
there was still gold to be mined right off his passage ways.
Have fun.
