Diablo: Can't drink Spectral Elixir

Hi,
I have trouble using the the Elixir obtained in the Black Mushroom/Brain
quest. After receiving it from the Witch, I saved the game to check
what it does before drinking it. Then I drank it and found that it
addes +3 to all my attributes. I then quit the game and retired for the
day (without saving it).
On the next day, I reloaded the game and now it won't let me drink it.
When I'm in the Town, it says "I can't summon that here" when I
right-click it. When I'm in the dungeons, it does nothing when I
right-click it.
Now it's just a piece of excess garbage. I can't even sell it.
Anybody have a clue?

That happened to me also. Exactly. Sad to say, I couldn't figure out how to
undo it, other than start again, but the next time I didn't get the Quest.
I to will be looking for any answers also.

If I remember correctly (haven't played single play games for a long
time), you get the Spectral Elixir from the healer then you have to take
it to the witch. After you've talked to the witch, you can drink it.
BTW, you don't get exactly same set of quests each time you play. It's
all random. Of cause if you play like 20 times eventually you'll get
all the quests. For your info, this Spectral Elixir is not available in
multiple player games. If you see people asking/selling/trading with
it, it's got hacked from single to multiple player games.

This is a known bug. The trick is to IMMEDIATELY drink the potion once
you get it--if you wait around it becomes useless. Glad to know that the
folks at Blizzard are human, huh? -Max
