This has now happened to me on two different quests, the first
one did not effect the quest the second one is keeping me from
completeing the quest.

The bug: Twice now when I am interacting with someone they
address me as 'BLANK'. I assuming this is the default field
which should be filled in with my character name.

Anyway on the second one I am told to go find what I am looking
for at 'Marier's House, where Marier is my chacter's name. It
looks like all the 'fill in the blank' pointers got shifted one
to the right.

Now I'm stuck on this quest as I have no idea were I need to go.

I went back to earlier saves and the problem was still there.

I have had this problem as well, and wonder if it could be a symptom of
the problem that someone else reported on this group with saved game
files that are corrupted by an error during saving. I have had my share
of those errors as well, but I wasn't keep close enough track of things
to know whether the "BLANK" bug followed one of my failed saves. Has
anyone else been doing more conscientious debugging??

I've seen the same thing.

Also something that may cause people quest problems, I've had town names
get messed up.

example: I'm in the town Daggerfall, the quest is to go to town "Foo"
and do something in a shop called "Daggerfall supplies". You get to the
town "Foo" there is no "Daggerfall Supplies" look for "Foo Supplies"

Hmm, I haven't had this problem with names, but since becoming a vampire,
which boosted my running to 101%, every time I rest for a while, I get a
message telling me I have become a master of BLANK. So far, there are no
adverse effects on my game, just a minor nit.

On one of my quests, I was asked to find a person. When I went to the
town the person was in, everyone pointed my to a place different name than
I was told to go. I went there, and found the person. The moral is: try
talking to people, their conversation options may tell you where to go.

I hope this helps,
Brett

I think the BLANK thing is supposed to be your character class, I
never saw it with my first character(which was a normal class), but I've
seen it quite a few times with the couple custom classes I've made. Must
be a messup with the custom character.

As far as the not knowing where to go, once you get to the town
your supposed to be in you usually have extra choices under 'People' and
'Locations...General' that relate to your quest. Just talk to people and
you'll eventally get to the right house. Now if the town name was screwed
up... that would be bad.

What's happened to me is that when I ask an NPC to tell me about a
person, they'll say, "I think there's one in <some town>." as if I was
asking about a guild or temple. If I ask again they'll give me the
name of a different town.

One question that has been bugging me (pun intended) is whether the
so-called beta testers were really so blind that they missed the
obvious bugs like messed up NPC dialog and NPC's not knowing where a
place was when they were inside that place, or if they did notice them
and reported them and Bethesda just ignored them.

Given that you would HAVE to be blind to miss that stuff, which option do
*you* think is correct?
