Beating the Arena on Knight level 5 times, let alone once, seems to be out
of the question for my ~35thlvl party. Any suggestions?

Thanks

hmm... i beat the arena at Knight level with my level 6 chars, so it's
definitely not out of the question. Everyone must be able to use bow of
course. As soon as the monsters are summoned run to the door. Turn around
and shoot them, if they get too close run to the other side. Your back
must be to a wall so you don't get attacked from all four sides. With a
level 35 party you really shouldn't have too much problems. Also, if
you've got someone that can cast mass attack magics like Starburst, or
even a fireball. That'd be really helpful.

Good luck.

The arena wasn't very well balanced in MM6. With level 1 chars, it
was pathetically easy, but at higher levels (tried a level-100+ party
a few times), it sometimes became psychotically difficult. And, it's
"indoors," so the cool offensive spells like Starburst didn't work.

Remember that the Arena scales.

I save before I go there, and then I spell up, start combat, and play on
unless there's something with 'dispell magic'. :) I've got 3 so far. We're
around 32nd level.

Yes about the dynamic gearing thing. I beat it at Knight once at level 30
or so, now I am ~40th and it seems to be getting harder.

I will try my back to the wall, strafing type strategy I guess, but it so
goddamn tedious.

Prismatic light should work then, I am going to try that. I wish I had
shrapmetal, that spell is insane.

Here's what I've done:

* start out invisible, with everyone regenerating and all protections on.
* identify ranged attack opponents.
* run up to one of them and try to take it out in melee, turn based. If
you're normal, your party is *MUCH* tougher in melee than at range.
* Run around healing up, strafing, and waiting to attack more ranged-attack
creatures.
* When you get rid of all of them, run away, go into turnbased mode, and start
shooting at everything, then turning and running. "moving forwards" away
from enemies moves you faster than "moving backwards", even in turn-based
mode.

Tedious, but we rake in cash.

Well, that pretty much sucks, and, IMHO, isn't in line with
the rest of the game. I mean, none of the other areas does this!
I'll be amazed if I'll be able to promote my Knight, now that I'm a
high level.

I finally got it, and it wasnt that hard afterall. I beat the it 4 of the
last 5 times I attempted it, prior to that I was getting bitched.

I had a GM in Light magic, with a +50% bonus to the skill so I was casting
light spells at 15.

First I cast a regen on everyone. Then Day of Gods, day of prot, and hour
of power. Then prot from magic, hammerhands for my monk, and preservation
just in case.

As soon as combat started I would move a hair (to avoid incoming ranged
attacks) then throw it into to TB to ID my foes. Being invisible from the
start would be much better, but I didnt think of that. I just would find a
group of enemies near a wall, then haulass over there and get between them
and the wall. This allows you to be in melee range, and to be somewhat
shielded from ranged attacks from the remaining enemies. Then I would just
use Knight and Monk straight melee, Druid melee/heal, whichever was
appropriate, and the Sorc would cast prismatic light. The prismatic light
spell made the difference. True, it was only doing 40 points of damage, but
it would sometimes hit 12 or so enemies. It isnt that effective on
behemoths and ancient wyverns since they have so many hps, but on sorcerors,
warlocks, necromancers, vampires, etc. it really helped.

I got in trouble on of the fights and cast divine intervention. The is
awesome, as it basically resets your party. The aging thing is not a
problem for me as I have a Druid and can crank out rejuvenation potions
until the cows come home.

I was level ~38-42 when I beat it for the 5th time.

So, can one get 5 Knight arena victories before receiving the quest and
get the promotion? If so, one could get the knight victories while level
10 or something.
