I finished Morrowind fare and square a long time ago and didn't save the
character so now I'm, as they say, screwed for Tribunal and Bloodmoon and
beyond.

Before I get over it and forget about playing the add-ons I want to make one
last ditch effort to see if there might not be some solution.

I played a thief in Morrowind and I took the standard level-ups offered after
sleeping--I don't think I altered this approach once. I also had glass armor
and the end game weapons and skills, etc. and beat Mr. Big.

I'm looking for a *Save Game* character with this same structure and/or the
means to edit or change minor things around like armor and strengths and skills?
It is okay and preferred if all the quests are completed or nearly completed.

ONE: Is there such a saved game (to start off with) anywhere in the world and
if so where?
TWO: Is there a character editor for name, skills and equipment selection?

Thank you. If there is no way to do this then I am scraping-out these games for
good. I talked to Bethsoft and although one person expressed some empathy they
are not interested in offering any solution. They did suggest I post around in
a few places to see if there might not be some 3rd-party solution(s).

P.S., It just occurred to me that someone with far more programming/editing
skills might like to earn some bucks (within some reason) if they could recreate
my character or explain to me how I could do this? It sounded like, from
Bethesda Technical Support, that the toughest part would be the Journal and Map
and closing out all the Morrowind proper quests including Mr. Big? Thanks.

There is NO interaction between the Tribunal quests and
morrowind. What you have done or not done in the main game does not
matter at all in the expansion.

The easiest thing to do is to just create a new character and use
console cheats to pump your character a bit.

Some time ago I created a small mod that does might help.
Put the unzipped file in "morrowind/data files", enable the mod,
create a new character of the race/class you want and check out the
chest in the tradehouse in the starting town.
------------------------
This plugin is for anyone who want to start the game with a lvl 37
thief with appropriate items.

This plugin adds a chest inside Arriles tradehouse in Seyda Neen. The
chest contains lots of items that a lvl 37 thief probably would have,
and an amulet that when equipped sets your level, health, stats and skills
appropriately. Save the game and reload it after using this amulet, this
will update the stat-menu in the interface with the new level.
-------------------------
You can get it at
http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~d97wenn/morrowind/

You can also use console commands to change things to your liking:
player->setlevel 50
player->sethealth 300
player->setStrength 82
player->setLightArmor 84
player->setHeavyArmor 50
player->setReputation 30
... for any stat or skill

or adding items:
player->additem "daedric wakizashi"
Checking around in the construction set is usefull for finding out item
names for this purpose.

I also played through the Hlalu, Thieves, Morag Tong quest lines (not
the main quest) with a wood elf custom class thief. The above mod
gives the stats and most items of this character, but i could send you
a save game I guess.

But what you have done in the main game does not matter at all in
Tribunal.

A friend has a level 57 Adventurer that she built up without any cheating in the
game. I started playing this person and went straight to Mournhold without a
hitch. However, I like everything you have put together and I'm going to start
a new character with your aid(s) _because_ 1) the current quest log is cluttered
with unfinished Morrowind quests I previously played out and the character is
cluttered with equipment/inventory/spells and the like I don't want or need. So
off I go to do this. Thanks for the info here and in a couple other posts I
found by you and another.

I believe there are a number of character editors around, and what they
don't add (I'm not up on the specifics of what they tackle), you can always
add using the console. :)

Okay, I just about have my character finished but ran into trouble when I slept
the first time to bring on the Dark Brotherhood. I may have gone to far editing
some things or don't understand the functions.

The Dark Brotherhood baddie I was just barely able to kill and needed to heal
myself afterwards because if I slept I ran a great risk of another one finishing
me off. I tried using Amulet of Flesh Made Whole but when I cast it it says
Item does not have enough charge! The Cost/Charge is 296/285. My Magicka is
only 80/80. Is that why I can't use it?

Worse, I tried to increase my Magicka with the console from 80 to 85 but even
that low amount wouldn't work. Have I carried things to far increasing skills
and stats to much? The game has also quick to Desktop a couple of times now
too. If this is somehow the case is there any simple way to fix things or am I
going to have to start over?

I healed using some exclusive health potions and tried to figure out how to
supplement that supply with the console but couldn't figure it out. I looked in
the Construction Set and found the potion but p_restore_health_e didn't work and
I couldn't figure out how to set the quantity to add.

Well, what is your best advice for getting me out of this predicament? Thank
you.

The dark brotherhood can be nasty, especially at higher levels. You
will probably get attacked each time you sleep for a while. Talk to a
guard ASAP.

Using enchanted items dont use magicka but use charges from the
enchanted item. The wierd thing is that using this amulet costs 296
charge out of the 285... the cost is higher than the available
charage. This could be caused by having an extremely low enchant
skill. If this char is new and your enchant skill is only 5, try
setting it to 30 and se if you can use the item (player->setenchant
30).

I dont know what causes the crashes. Changing stats with the console
should not affect stability. It crashes sometimes for me but mostly
when it is loading areas or save games.

Normally your maximum magicka is exactly the same amount as your
intelligence (unless you have certain races/birtsigns). It might be
that the game does not like it when your max magicka is not the same
as your intelligence.

The command to add items was not entirely correct in my prevous post, sorry.
Try
player->additem p_restore_health_e, 10
or
player->additem, "p_restore_health_e", 10
booth should work.
You can replace 10 with the number of potions you want.

Also you can try soultrapping a golden saint, buying a restore health
spell, and enchanting an item with constant effect restore health. Try
the balmora amges guild. Exquisite ring or shirt are good choices, or
a helm or cuirass. It could be expensive. To get gold, try
player->AddItem, "Gold_001", 20000

Thanks so much for all this super info Nicklas. Yes, I've been playing around
with kludging my email addresses for Usenet and unfortunately I need to settle
on one and didn't for this thread. I would love to avoid this irritation but
I'm sick and tired of the spammers harvesting my address so that isn't going to
happen any more in Usenet at least.

I would ask one more question... Is resisting being paralyzed and frozen-stiff
from a spell or weapon strike a function solely of one's resistance to magick?

I'm printing all this out for safe keeping and use. :)

Yes, one would think so. But I have failed to find one, except for the console
itself.

Are there any instructions for console usage? Can I use the console to change
name, class, sex including character picture? Can I use the console to change a
male Briton Adventurer to a female Dark Elf Thief? I adjust the basic levels,
skills and some inventory quantities now. And I don't need to adjust inventory
items. I wonder if I shouldn't explore around with the Construction Set more?

Thanks.

Yes.

I think you open the console (~) and type:

EnablePCRaceMenu
EnablePCClassMenu

But I could be wrong.

You were so close I could guess. Neither worked so I wondered why the "PC" and
left them out--and the rest is history. I also discovered EnableNameMenu works
so I could change the name and sex and that's all I wanted to do. I used the
RaceMenu to change his face to her and changed the name. The Race, Breton, and
Class, Adventurer, are perfect. Thanks.

Well, I've never used either, and only saw them described once or twice.
:) Glad it helped.

Ok, nice to know. And spammers are evil.

I think that resistance to magick is most important. There are also at
least one item in the game with 10% "resist paralyzis", but not any
that are reakky usefull or easy to find. Finally, high willpower seems
to help a bit.

You can buy potions of cure paralyzis and drink those from the
inventory screen when you are paralyzed. Might not help much versus
someone with a paralyzing dagger though :)

I am in the same predicament. I dont know why some Morrowind site wouldnt
put a few final savegames for various classes. Why are they so hard to find?

Waiving his 5th Amendment rights, LugoMan expounded thusly :

I wish I knew of a source for a save game. But it doesn't take long to
start another char and get them to the level for Tribunal. I didn't
even install the game until I had Tribunal, and could put them both on
at the same time. Just do it and get to a decent level before Bloodmoon
:)

Probably partly because the kind of hardcore fan that might donate such
a thing will have saved games that are totally dependent on the presence
of 6-30 different mods. Some mods are extremely difficult to clean out
of a saved game also.

I'm just a bit baffled why you wouldn't want to start again anyway. Did
you really finish every quest in the game the first run through? Become
the head of every guild, cult and faction? It took me 2 plays through to
do most of the quests and I still never reached the head of any of the
houses. There's enough creature mods, dungeon mods and quest mods out
there to make the game a completely different experience as well.
