When it's on, all the friendly characters in a combat are highlited
green, and the enemies red when you're using the targeting cursor.
Character which are either neutral or out of your perception range are
marked in yellow.

For those of you who are as dense as me and couldn't figure it out by it's
name, when you turn Combat Look on (which is not the default) everytime you
hit a creature during a fight you will get information like "Rat: Seriously
Wounded", or "Rat: Dead". Pretty cool.

It's described in the readme. Basically, when it is on, passing mouse
cursor over someone in combat does an "examine" on them.

I was wondering the same thing myself. I tried toggling it on and off, but
didn't notice any difference. Any hints from someone who does know what
it does?
- Mega, helpful as ever ;)

It's in the readme.
Or just try it yourself. It's not that hard to figure out.
Okay, okay, if you're too lazy to try it, I'll tell you. :) It automatically
examines things in combat. Personally, I find it annoying as hell, since it
often causes hitpoint info to scroll off the status window immediately. I
turned it off, and look manually when I want to examine something.
