This is a first look that looks at the graphics, the character creation, NPC
interaction, and other stuff, with 11 EXCLUSIVE captured screenshots of the
game. Check it out here:

Rat Bastard. Give us some dirt. Tell us it plays well. Tell us it runs
smooth. Give us some meat! Yes, I read your preview. But tell us how combat
is. How spells are. More than the preview, I want to know now. Ah forget
about it. I want the game now! Not some silly preview! You're a rat bastard
you know that? ;p
etc
Is Morrowwind still scheduled for an April/May release?
Jochen
That wasn't a bug, that was a feature :) and a very useful one if you knew
how to expl... erm, use it effectively ^_^

The game sounds great, but I might offer a suggestion to you: make the
screenshots bigger if you can. It's very hard to read the text and
whatnot with the small screenshots.

You are a lucky bastard! Man, I am dying to play this game.
The preview was a good first look, I agree with the other guy though, the
screen shots, when clicked, are too small.
When you got the beta, did they give you any indication of how close to
being done they are? EB still has the PC release date as 3/26...but the
Xbox as 4/29. The devs have said on the morrowind forums that both will be
released at the same time. I sure hope we dont have to wait until May to
play the game.

Electronics' Boutique has the release date as 3/26 for Morrowind.

Bethesda didn't develop the engine this time. They licensed the engine
instead, so we shouldn't have to worry about that. Unless they broke it
somewhere along the line :)
Don't know about anyone else, but I really hope Morrowind is good enough to
finally dampen the tiresome and perpetual "Pathesda sux" cant a bit.
Who did the license it from?
NDL's NetImmerse engine I believe.

Oh. That's that bland engine used by DAoC. Actually the engine wasn't so
bland but most of the artwork in DAoC was (IMHO). Hopefully Bethesda can do
a better job with this engine.

Scott Evil: Wait, aren't you even going to watch them? They could get away!
Dr. Evil: No, no, no. I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness
them dying. I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. ...What?

NetImmerse isn't an engine in the same sense as Quake or Unreal or BG2
engines. Instead, it's just a generic system for 3d physics and polygons
and skeletal animation. That means that the company licencing it has
complete flexibility, and also has to do a lot more work. I think
NetImmerse is also used in Freedom Force.

Hopefully Freedom Force can do a better job with the engine than DAoC did.

Wow I love the DAoC engine, as compared to the other MMORPGs that is. The
spell effects are very good, and the terrain/background certainly can be.
The character animation is some of the best. About the only thing I find
lacking, and not by much, is the monster models, and I imagine most of the
fault there lies with Mythic.

The fault definitely lies with Mythic, but I find the graphics just plain
boring. Only Albion was fairly good looking, whereas Midgard was bland, and
Hibernia was absolutely fugly. Anarchy Online' graphics are a heck of a lot
better in my opinion. I love how in AO it's hard to find people who look
exactly the same because there is so much variety in the clothing textures.
Also the envionmental effects in AO are great. Not to mention I can get
around very quickly in AO to visit lots of varied locations and see more of
the land a lot faster, which helps not get tired of the same bland graphics
in the same spot like would happen with DAoC. Maybe they've improved DAoC
since I quit. Hope so.

From the screenshots of Morrowind, it looks anything but bland. Then again,
you never really can tell from screenshots alone.

I need to get a GeForce2 before then, and make sure I have £30 left

Bunnies aren't cute like everybody supposes !
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses !
And what's with all the carrots ?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway ?
Bunnnies ! Bunnies ! It must be BUNNIES !
Sadly, the game will not make it in April, according to almost all of the
release date sites now.

The great thing about Game Release Dates is it's like Multiple
Christmas's. One of the few things in life that brings back "childhood
anticipation"...heh
