And BTW, what is a good tactic to off the Minotaur Lord in the Thunderfist
Mountain tunnels next door? The critter generally casts death successfully on
my entire party before we could finish it; and unfortunately, I didn't elect to
have a priest or else we could have protected ourselves against that cheezy
monster ability with grand mastery in the Protection from Magic Spell.
TIA.

It is in the far northeast. There is an area which is flooded with water,
follow it to its last end. There you will find the remains and a HUGE axe
(iirc, that is).

Ouch. You've got it at the worst place in the whole game. There is only
one method: retry until your characters stay alive in whichever
condition.
The "Protection from Magic" spell works against Finger of Death, but only
at Grand Master level. I still have trouble with it, altough my Cleric
already is promoted and has the Master skill.
For Minotaur Lords further on in the tunnels you might find a place where
the tunnel is too low for the beast to follow you. Then you can shoot
until it dies. I use the same tactics for Behemoths, they are definitely
overpowered for the beginning Eofel traveller.

Geez, my ranger is using that axe right now, so I must have been there
and not noticed. I'll trudge back there then. Thanks.

Yep, I'd figured the druid (a class I'm especially fond of after
BG2/Jaheira) would be a suitable replacement for a Cleric, hence this promotion
quest to begin with.

Well, that makes me feel better then. I had no problems dealing with the
minotaur lords in MM6 and was wondering if I'd gone soft.
Thanks very much for your assistance, M'lady.

I feel your pain - I also did MM7 with no cleric. :-)
Minotaur Lords (unlike ^#$!# Blood Titans) can only kill you at melee
range.. so keep retreating and hitting with arrows and spells. Fire
Spike is one I used a lot in that dungeon and hardly anywhere else.
Cheers!

Ah, thank you. Nothing like knowing others are in the same leaky boat to
feel better about one's lot.:)

Yeah, I noticed Titans are also tougher her than in MM6.

So minotaurs are more susceptible to fire-based spells? Ok, will try it.
Thanks again.

Oh, no, it wasn't that it was a fire spell, but rather the fact that it
was something to lay down on the floor rather than shooting directly. In
those narrow tunnels, when retreating and shooting, I often found that
it was my turn to attack and I didn't have a clear line-of-sight on the
enemy. So I'd drop a fire spike down instead, and he'd step on it when
he next moved forward.
Cheers!
