Hello John

http://www2.cei.net/daggerfall/files.html

I was just reading around, and I didn't know if you knew about the extra
quests in the COMPUSA version of the game. You can find it at the
address above if it's not on AOL.

Sorry about this. This was originally intended to be sent by e-mail to
someone, but I hit the wrong button.

Well thanks anyway 'cause a lot of people (including me) really wanted
these files.

Which directory/subdirectory is this patch supposed to be used in? I
unzipped it in the main dagger directory and now have a bunch of files
sitting around.

Re: The CompUSA quest 'Patch'

Just unzip the file in the "ARENA2" directory.
All done.

BTW, i have been playing with these 'extra' quests for a while, One quest
from the fighters guild I accepted was to go find some chap in a local
house who is scared "a bit jittery" (or something). You are meant to
protect him.

Upon arriving at the house (no matter how fast I go there) you find the
guy dead and 4 assassains wondering around. I killed the assasains but
the quest will not finish? I tried to "pick up" the body of the guy I was
meant to protect but it informs me it is too heavy. I have ecumberance of
40/105 ???? What to do? I can also see a letter / paper under the body
but this also reports the "too heavy" thing?

Anyone found this?

Cheers,
Edward.

Yeah, I got this one once. I managed to pick up the letter by getting the
angle just right. On it you find a name. Then you go around asking about the
name and you are eventually led to another town. I went there, asked around
some more and found out that she was the local leader of the Dark Brotherhood
based in the castle of the town. I went there found her and talked to her.
She disappeared and then I had to slaughter 6 assasins. Then...dead end. No
more clues, quest still active.

They're supposed to go into the subdir that's called X:\DAGGER\ARENA2\
where X: is your hard drive.

Yes, I've had the same thing happen to me. You wonder what's up;
nobody around for a while, then suddenly a bunch of assassins appear
at the door and begin whacking the back of your melon with blunt
weapons. Rude. Then I also had the "too heavy" thing. I never did
resolve that; I decided to take the reputation hit and let the mission
time-out so I could continue building F.Guild rep.

I too had this quest. After I killed the second bunch of assassins
I got a letter from a relative of the man I was supposed to
protect (wife or sister or something). I went to see her, she congratulated
me own getting revenge on her relative's killers and rewarded me with a
gem of some sort. Quest over.

BTW, the compUSA quests are some of the most interesting random quests
in the game, shame on Bethseda for keeping them out of the general release.

I've got the compUSA CD. How do you know which quests are
special?

On Daggerweb (http://reba.cei.net/daggerweb/files.html) in the files section
their is a excel spreadsheet file which has compiled most of the written
information about daggerfall that been on the web (unsolicited plug).
Included in this are the text translations of the Hex code (I think thats
how it was done) of the files in the addquest.zip file on compuserve. This
gives you the dialogue from each quest. It amounts to about two quests per
guild.
