Press enter to get rid of the cursor and start using the mouse to
look around.

You're not doing anything wrong, but you are missing a step. You need
to hit the _enter_ key (or whatever key you defined for _activate
cursor_) and the blue arrow will disappear. Once the blue arrow is gone
everything should work properly. The reason there is a key to activate
the cursor is so you can access the menu bar at the bottom of the screen
if you're not playing full screen and to click on objects if you can't
activate them by hitting the _activate center object_ key.
I did want to mention that I really think the view based interface is
far supperior to the cursor based interface. For those of you who
haven't tried it yet, give it a few hours of game play. Once you get it
down, I think you'll love it.

Hit return and the cursor will go away, then the mouse will control
your viewpoint. (IMNSHO) Much better than the other mode.

Sometimes it does that to me upon loading... I hit esc key and then the continue
button and it gets reset to the way it's supposed to work. Your milage
may vary.

Fine if your mouse has three buttons. How would you get three fingers
one the same hand working in the middle of fast and furious combat?
Why waste your whole other hand?

I actually went out and treated myself to a three button mouse just
for this game (cheap 'n' cheerful Trust mouse for about £9 sterling),
and I don't tend to look around in the middle of a fight. In fact
that's one of the problems I had with the view based mode, everytime I
stopped swinging the sword I'd be looking anywhere but at my foe, tho'
it's quite nice walking around town or countryside hiking...
