The ones that the paladin in Beregost wants you to kill.... I can't find
them anywhere.

Go south from Beregost, then south again from the map you get to, then
west from _that_ map. The Ogres are in a south westerly direction on the
last map that sequence takes you to, I think. Be careul though. Ogres are
big, nasty creatures with 25 or more hit points who do, on average, 10
points of damage with each hit - and they hit quite often. Not for first
level characters...heck, I'd wait until I was level 4 to after those buggers
(there are about 6 or 7 of them, with some Half Ogres and Ogrillon tagging
along).

William, we are looking for these ogres since quite some time. We
have been at the location you describe (a map with some cone shaped
mountains and a lake with some fishermen turned miners?), but all we
have found was some 4 half-ogres and thats all. Any ideas?

Yes, I am stuck on this one too. I went two areas south of Beregost and then one
area to the west; it was Drizzt's area - fighting gnolls etc. There was a lake
with one miner turned fisherman and quite a few ogrish things (inc. some half
ogres) which I killed. However, when I went back to the paladin in Beregost, he
asked me if I had run into the half-ogres so obviously I had not. Can anyone be a
little more explicit on where the half-ogres are (eg what other quests/features -
eg drizzt - are on the area; where- eg NW - are they on the area)?; and - much
less importantly - on how you know you have killed them (eg do you get a
gem/letter etc)?
Thanks
Simon

Oddly, this is the map where I found them... I found some half-ogres, etc. and
got credit when I talked to the paladin. I also found 2 other things; Drizz't
being attacked by hobgoblins and also a group of 3 bandits (mage, fighter- type
and ogre-type IIRC). This was in Chapter One, maybe they're no longer there in
later chapters? Mage had a robe of fire resistance, BTW

I solved this at chapter three. The half-orges are spread out over the north
map. Maybe there is a need to kill them all. *shrug*

Yes, you have to kill them all. A good way of telling whether or not you have them all is
to cast Detect Evil.

Sorry, it should read : "..the north part of the map..." The particular map I
refer to is south by south west of Beregost. It is the same map you will meet
Drizzt (center of map) and another band of bounty hunters (north-east) and
there is a small later in the north-westerly portion with 2 peasant guy
talking about fishing. When I said north part, I meant you have to search from
west edge to the east edge for the half-ogres. I remembered killing about 4 or
5 of them.

Your best bet is to uncover the whole map and kill anything that comes at you.
This way you will not miss anything.

I have cleared this map completely. In the northern part I have met a
pack of skeletons and 1 ogre (or half-ogre). That is all. The
paladin in the inn did not react when I talked to him afterwards.
What the hell.

I found some 1/2 ogres to the east of beregost, and one of them had a
name (sort of head bad guy like) Munched them and went back to the guy
at the inn. he said wrong ones, later I foun the others described here
and killed them, went back to the guy and he said, have a magic
shield.
Maybe you have to kill both lots to get the reward...

Cheers,
Freddy.

I'm not so worried about how many I kill,
I much more concerned with how much beer I spill.

No, only the ones located two maps south and one west of Beregost.
