I hate those bastards. I'm in Castle Darkmoor and the little pansies
won't fight fair. I'm outta magic, red on all characters, insane,
scared, tired and some are asleep. All I want to do is run up to
them and beat the shit outta them. But do they stand and fight? NO!
they fly above me so I can't see them and even if I could, they won't
come in range of my weapons. Arrows just ain't gonna cut it! Those
little pansies! And get this, they can zap me through walls. I'm
standing next to a wall, my gems are yellow. No windows, no
overhangs, no nothing that would give them a shot at me. Yet I'm
getting zapped! What's up with that?!?! They must die. Every last
one of the f*%#ing buggers!!!

Ok, thanks, I feel less insane now :)

These guys (for me at least) easily take the cake for the most annoying
little bastards in the whole game. The reason they're hitting you is
that they are on the floor above you, and I believe they can pass
through walls if they feel like it. They don't most of the time,
though, since they have a hard time detecting you through walls to know
to chase you. Any you happen to see and run from though, can chase you
through any walls you happen to get between you.

Fight them in turn-based mode. It's almost hopeless in real-time. And
don't worry if you go insane. It won't hurt you until you try and
rest. Make sure you're sane again before resting.

Each of them are sensitive to different spells, so you need to take them
out in order.

The Flying Eyes are the weakest of the group, and they are sensitive to
fire. They are also the ones that put you to sleep. Kill them first,
using Infernos and other high-level fire spells.

The Terrible Eyes are the next most powerful. They will make you afraid
and hit you with fire spells. You have to use air or water to fight
them. I used primarily lightning, and then implosion spells once I had
learned them.

The Maddening Eyes are the most powerful of the group. They are the
ones that make you insane. (duh!) Again, implosion came in very useful
when fighting them.

Hit them with swords, axes, etc... when they get close enough, but they
won't let you do this to them very often. They're smart.

Implosion was probably my most useful spell when fighting them. The
problem with it, though, is that more than just occasionally, you'll hit
them and it'll only do a couple points of damage. When it does hit
hard, though, it's worth the wait.

If you have Dark magic already, Dragon Breath and Shrapmetal really send
these guys reeling. I didn't have Dark at this point, though.

A good measure of if you should be in this quest yet is how many Eyes
can you knock down before resting? If you can get 5 or 6, you should be
okay. If you're having trouble getting that many, you may want to put
this one to the side for a while. I don't want to spoil it for you, but
there are probably a hundred or more of the little fraggers in there.
This is one of the hardest quests to finish if you're not a high level
group. Even if you are a high level group, it still isn't a cake walk.

You get heaps of experience for getting this one under your belt,
though. I think I moved from Level 50 all the way up to the low 60's
just for finishing that building.d

If you save Darkmoor until you NEED the last memory crystal and have two Dark
Masters, they should be in the mid-20 levels and will get you through this
quest in little more than a day of game time.

After Ive fought the first ½ of monster in Darkmoor it wasnt funny and i
boosted my group and run straight thru the big halls with monsters. Make
sure that u push BOTH the buttons and then click on the red blob. Before
you have clicked the buttons its blue.

Well, too late, I finished this castle from hell last night. The
only really effective spells I found were toxic cloud (master level
7) and acid burst (master level 12). Dragon breath worked OK, but at
100 SP per casting, it wasn't worth it. Shrapmetal worked OK as well
and came in handy for doing some damage to a lot of eyes. Implosion
was variable and therefore not as good as acid burst (acid burst did
more damage/SP). As far as zapping me through walls and floors,
well, that's a bunch of shit if it's true. The only good thing to
come out of this thing, other than destroying the book of liches and
getting the energy crystal, was that I found some juicy rings
(increased fire and water magic effects, +25 hp, etc) and I can now
train up several levels. I went in at 57, I can now train up to 65.
I hope to never see another f#$&ing eye as long as I play this
game!!!!!

I then hope you already did Agar's Laboratory... But you don't need to
do that anyway.

I went back to Darkmoor after respawn and after getting blaster rifles
- they make it Sooooo much easier.

Just like I felt after my first encounter with them... ;-) This is
the very last dungeon I did before going to Dragonsands. I started
at L90 or so. Here's what you do:
1. Leave the castle. Browse around for sleep immunity items in various
shops and towns. At least your Dark magic specialist and one character
with the Awaken spell should have one.
2. Look at your Dark magic skills. If they're below 15, do something else
first. If they're 20 and above, it's best.
3. Make sure you use the +30level well in Kriegspire and heal up in
NS before you enter the Castle. You'll need the spell points.
4. The Eyes - all of them - have various resistances, but are all
vulnerable to Poison. The best spell is Dragon Breath. You usually get 3
or 4 with one blast. Use you Dark magic specialists (I assume you have 2)
to attack and the rest to cure and drop the occasional fire spell.
