Just started the darkside of Xeen and need to learn the mountaineering skill. Where
am I supposed to do that?

I have been everywhere south of the mountain range except where the Armadillos keep killing my party.
If i need to get passed them, how? They kill my mage with 1 hit and then I'm screwed.

Also, in the southern tower, where or what is the password to the chest of Ali Baba.

What in the hell is the name for what the Drawkcab (backward) Monks study. I realize the
sentences are the same front to back as back to front, but ?????.

Thanks.

In Sandcaster, the city you are trying to get to past the armadillos.

>How do I get past the armadillos?
You cast a spell called Beast Master which sort of hypnotizes them then
proceed to kill them while they are stunned. Kind of neat message to the
kiddies on that one, eh?

I believe the answer is Palindromes

You are most welcome.

These are called palindromes.

I'm still in the Clouds of Xeen part but it sounds to me that you are
trying to get the mountaineering skill too fast. What level are your
characters on?

Sentences (and words) that are the same when read forward or backwards are
"palindromes"

I'm not sure where in the game you find the password to Ali Baba's chest, but
think about it and take a guess. What was the password for Ali Baba's
cave in the story (of Ali Baba & the 40 thieves?)

I think the mountaineering skill is sold by someone just outside Necropolis.
Watch out! The monsters around there get nastier. Do you have clouds of
Xeen as well? The monsters there are _much_ easier and you can build up
your characters there pretty well. (My characters were all around level 85
when
I finished World of Xeen. Didn't take too many hits to kill most monsters...)

Something that helps, but is hard to get to:
There are two _really_ good wells on Darkside. One gives you +2500 hit points
and is near the NW corner of Darkside. The other gives +1000 spell points and
is in the north-central section of the map. You need fairly strong characters
to get near these, as the monsters are nasty as hell in the NW corner. I don't
think you'd have a chance if your characters are under 20th level... The NW
corner is full of gamma gazers, which are mega nasty!

Once you get to these fountains, set a Lloyd's beacon at each, then jump there
after resting to replenish your HP and SP.

I think all the skills are available on both sides. I think mountaineering was
in one of the towns on Clouds as well.

Good luck!

Well, I played the World CD, so I had 30th level characters before starting
Darkside, but one thing I can suggest: When you see an armadillo 3 steps away
(the farthest away it can be), cast a spell at it.Then it moves up to 2 steps
away. zap it again. It moves up to 1 stepaway. Now turn around and cast jump.
it will move closer and now be 2 steps away again. zap it ad Jump again. If
your mage(s) have any decent attack spells, you should be able to kill it
in very little time without any damage.
