So, I decided to start Gothic 3 with patch 1.6 while I built up skills
in
the Gothic 1 demo. I noticed all the screen stutter as usual, but the
game was also reminding me of Gothic 2 at the last dragon. So I
decided to try not to carry around a huge load of Inventory. In the
hut
by the gate at the first camp in the game is a chest. I simply stored
eveything I got in that chest, hopeing I could get it back when
needed.
Sure enough that works ... and ... it also reduces both the screen
glitches and the failed quests and missing skills in the game. I also
changed to the smaller Gothic 2 font, but I did not see any gain ..
even though it probably helps too. It is interesting that this works
in Gothic 3 when G3 is not using a virtual drive .... just loading a
heck of a lot to ram. Considering that a virtual drive IS ram, I guess
that is why.
Anyway, at the end of G3 in the liberation phase, I normally have
a huge problem with crashing if I stay in the game longer than
about 45 minutes without reloading. And many of the game
conditions will be weird ... like Orcs attacking when I approach
a city to liberate it. If I reload a lot, they do not attack. If I
fail to
do this, eventually they all begin attacking on approach, because
the end-game setup is not loading. When I dumped my Inventory
in the chest at Ardia, that stopped, and the liberation phase ran
much better with no crashing at all.
