When I remap the game keys with the following circumstances... the order I do
it in, the current phase the moon is in and the direction which the wind is
blowing, I end up having two functions mapped to the same key!!
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the problem (or that I have
yet to figure out) and it's frustrating as all hell.
I reset to defaults but the keys that were mapped to two functions are still
'broken'.
For example: I mapped 'Cast Ready' to 'c' and 'Cast' to 'v'.. now when I
press 'c', the game brings up the spellbook (which is then non functional),
then when I close it, it fires off the spell!!.
Another example was when I mapped 'Look Up' to 'r' and then moved 'Rest' to
the 'i' key... well, the 'i' key did nothing, and the 'r' key now looked up
and brought up the rest screen (in opposite order as I wrote).
If ANYONE knows how to get around this problem PLEASE post!
The way it stands now, I can't play the game.. (currently I can't bring up the
spell book because I mapped cast to '-no key-' and now it's stuck that way.
Otherwise, I'll have to return the game, and I really don't want to.
Thanks for your time.

- Restore the defaults by hitting the "Default" button
- Completely exit the program
- Reload the program, now everything is back to normal
- Now you can remap
Also, it seems that some items just don't like to be bound to some
keys. For instance, I kept trying to bind 'r' (if I recall) to quick
cast but it kept getting mapped to the stats page. Try a different
mapping next time.

Note that if you get into the habit of resetting your keys to "default"
_before_ you exit to go to sleep/work/whatever, it'll save you time in the
long run, because some keys (like 'r', for example) don't want to stay
remapped--so you have to do this _every_time_you_play_.

Note: make sure you _never_ map two actions to the same key, even for a
second--that messes it up too.

(who thinks NONE of the NWC/3DO QA playtesters remapped keys)
All of the reports of problems with remapped keys that I've
heard involve the R key. Perhaps none of them remapped that one.
I've remapped the keys for start/stop combat, look up, look down,
center view, fly up, fly down, land, jump, and pause, and I've had
zero problems. And I have mapped two actions to the same key while
configuring the controls (never actually went back into the game
with it though).
