The Tomb of VARN was long, IIRC (it's been almost a year since I
played it) but at least was very intruiguing. The last dungeon,
called Control Center or something really robitic and sci-fi, was
irritating, just cause it seemed that I had tolerated enough of
the dungeon bullshit. Looking back, until now I'd actually
forgotten alot of the MM6 stuff, till writing this sparked my memory.
It really was a *LONG* game, longer than Baldur's.

They are mostly relative. Gharik's forge is tough if you hit
it with a sub-50 party. I went there with level 50+ party so,
it's not too bad. Darkmoor is annoying more than anything
because of all the eyes. IMHO, the most troublesome dungeon
has got to be the werewolf one. The problem isn't so much
that it's difficult in absolute terms. But we tend to hit
it at level 20 to 30 or so. The werewolf's insta-kill ability
is absolutely frustrating.

Having finished Castle Darkmoor awhile ago, I don't know if I'd
consider it the hardest. Was actually kind of easy, all I would do
would be to stay in real-time mode, and strafe the eyes and liches a
few at a time instead of trying to take them out in turn-based mode.
It's a little hard to strafe if you don't have room to maneuver
though..8-). After reading how hard Castle Darkmoor was supposed to
be, I was expecting a little more difficulty, even Castle Alamos took
me longer, though that was because I kept getting lost...8-(.

I think that it is fairly common for people to try Gharik's Forge
at a level that is too low. Hence the discussions about it being
too tough.
The toughest dungeon is probably Varn's Tomb. Since you have to battle
a huge number of dragons and very tough monsters outside Varn's Tomb
is seldom entered by characters that are way overmatched.

It may be hardest, but the pyramid is most annoying. Oh, and Castle Alamos
is very annoying too, because it's so mazy. I actually liked Darkmoor
castle.

I'm not so sure the re-spawn was a bug here, like it is in BG, as the
respawn was only in certain areas and only if you entered certain
areas. I remember the first time I got stuck with a party that was a
bit too weak for this dungeon and was reloading and reloding to get
out when I realised that it was only if I went into a particluar room
did they reaspawn.
The level had a number of rooms -left and down the stairs after
entering - (some cells and some ooze monsters) the re-spawn room was
the one where there were cages and impaled bodies. If I stayed out of
there then once I beat up the current set there was no respawn. I was
eventually able to get out by running passed the entrance guards who
respawn when you leave the area.
It's been a long while since I played it but I'm sure I remember
hearing some kind of sound cue that told me 'oh oh' I've just caused a
respawn...I could be very wrong on that but fairly sure of the rest of
this comment.

1. Very large and you easily get lost and feel tedious.
2. Everyone likes to throw lightning bolt or whatever magic spells at you
from a very far distance.
3. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, everywhere, is dull.
Castle Darkmoor is also difficult, but you'll get many very good rings after
killing the eyes. I won't say this dungeon is grand but when I discovered
there is a GREAT hall within Darkmoor I am amazed.
Tomb of Varn is grand and is also very hard.
Control Center is also nasty because the robots like to exterminate you.
Fortunately they won't chase at you.
Brian.

The Lair of the werewolf only respawns in specific areas when you
enter certain areas.
Yes, you just summed up M&M6 completely. boring. If I want to kill
hundreds of monsters Ill play quake.
