OK, I admit defeat. I've died twenty times so far trying to do
something, anything, in the Halls of Mist. I've no clue what to do, nor
how to do it. At least I've got a Wizard with mastery in air, so I can
tour around invisibly; but I haven't even got the first of the three
keys needed.
So...Can someone provide a complete walkthrough for this part of MM7 so
that I can get back to having fun with this game instead of being
constantly frustrated? I would appreciate it, and others stuck at the
same spot may appreciate it also.

Arch one. Leads to a three way intersection. At the end of both the
right and left halls are three buttons and a switch. Go right first and
press all three buttons and ignore the switch. Then run to the other
(left) hall and press in those three buttons. Next you want to hit one
of those bottons again (so it pops out) to allow you to move the
switch. I forget which one, but with only three it is a fast process.
Once you move the switch run back to the exit arch, but don't leave
yet. Once you move the switch a chest will appear in the alcove where
you entered this third of the grounds. A key is in this chest.
Arch two. Leads to an elevator. Take the elevator down and run to end
of the L-shaped hall. Press buttons on each of the fountains. At the
end of the hall is a hole. Jump down into the hole to find the chest
and key. Take the only exit out (need to open the secret wall, but
since the passage dead-ends it's kind of obvious.) Run back to the exit
arch.
Arch three. Puts you on top of a column with a stair winding around
it. I just jump off to save time. There is an elevator built into the
floor that takes you up to a small room with the chest and key. The
elevator isn't obvious, but it shows with both good perception and with
master WE on. Take the elevator back down (or jump) and run up the
stairs to the exit arch. There are lots of red herrings in here with
switches and stuff that open secret areas with gold and such in them, so
don't get side tracked thinking you have to do more than you really have
to.
Have the character with the keys highlighted, and hit space in front of
each button in the entry area of the grounds. A wall will open behind
the three buttons. Leave through the door (or get the Lich jars in the
chest if you are dark.)

okay, the left gate takes you to an open area with two balconies. hit
the 2nd and 3rd button on the west balcony and the first and third on
the east, then come back to the west balcony and pull the lever above
the buttons.
Middle gate: go to the south room and hit the raised table. that will
activate the lift. wait for the lift noise to stop then hit it again
and rush down the stairs and catch the lift to the left.
right gate: hit buttons on all 4 water troughs. rush up to the main
altar and jump in.
At master invisibility I suggest you do them one at a time. grab one
key, rush back out, cast invisibility again, get the next key etc etc
then when you have all three, use them all at once on the pedestals in
the main room. otherwise they reset when you leave.

I did the Walls of Mist today and as usual I didn't find the Lich
Jars.
No big deal :-) I found a solution anyway..
I downloaded MM7view , and gave me 4 Lich Jars , then I went to the
Darkenmore guy in the Pit , and it worked :-) Lo and Behold! My wizard
is now a Lich!
Note: Be sure to select the object "Lich Jar (2)".. you can find it
near the end of the list (with the scrolling window open , just type
"Lic" and it should jump to the object "Lich Jar" , then just scroll
down some more objects and you'll find the "Lich Jar (2)").. after you
selected it press enter and drag the object to the inventory window..
repeat until necessary (4 times).
The normal "lich jar" (without the (2)) is the "full" jar.. it gave me
an hearth attack when it didn't work.. I was thinking that there could
also been so more flags involved than just having the quest items in
your inventory... While the "lich jar (2)" is the empty one.
By doing this , it's the best way , because I thought that if I edited
the byte which defined my character's class I would have losen all the
bonus , the Lich Paperdoll and the Immunity to Body/Mind and so on..
Hope this helps.. (and I'm sure it will.. it worked.. I'm not sure
where to download MM7view.. someone should post the url.. then
download that ... and you're done!)

That they built us and they died and
you'll not be knowing why
You can get to the chest by just pressing two buttons and a switch.
Press the center button on both locations and then the switch.

Hey, I didn't get any Lich jars! All I found was an empty chest with
some barrels. I'm dark, but haven't received the Lich promotion quest
yet: is that the problem?
