I am in chapter 3 and I have two questions:

1) What is the solution to the Morudhel wordlock with the following riddle:

Claws like a cat,
Crooked as a snake's hiss,
Patch together your guesses,
you won't guess this.

(6 letters)

2) WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?! I've visited every town twice. I am at a loss
and would DESPERATELY like some help.

Thanks.

p.s. I found a really tremendously useful secret in the game (no, I am
NOT talking about the motherlode codes). Whoever helps me gets to find it
out. Tee hee.

Talk to everybody from Silden to Kenting Rush. Talk to Ugyne Corvallis
or whatever her name is on the lawn in front of Cavall's Keep. Follow
up all the clues.

If that doesn't work out, visit the temple north of Kenting Rush and
talk to the high priest. Ask to be admitted to the secrets of the
assassin's guild. I think you have to make a side trip to the nearby
prefect's house to find out how to mortify yourselves to become
spiritually acceptable -- the only feasible way is starving. To starve,
drop all your food and camp until all the character names are red,
meaning you're starting to take hit points because of no food. Then
go see the priest and he'll tell you the info you need.

I have received a lot of help from all you people out there. To show my
gratitude, I will now relate my little trick (I hope it wasn't just a
glitch).

This trick will only be effective if the group is really good at barding.
It will provide potentially infinite sums of money.

Go to the inn in Tanneurs (you must have at least 50 sovereigns). Talk to
"Snake Eyes Spitzer" and gamble with him. Bet 50 gold (it's the fastest
way to make money). Either:

1) You win, get 50 gold and Spitzer tells you he's bankrupt. DON'T LEAVE
THE INN! Just talk to him again and he'll continue to gamble with you.

or alternatively:

1) Bankrupt Spitzer, then Bard. It doesn't matter if you've barded there
before, you'll still get 30 gold. Gamble with Spitzer again.

2) Spitzer wins. Don't bet again, go straight to the lute and bard. You
get 250 gold every time you bard after losing to Spitzer. Once barded, go
to Spitzer and repeat the process. Remember, don't leave the inn.

Well, this worked for me. If it works for other people, please say so. If
it doesn't, PLEASE don't yell at me. I'm only trying to share what I
found out.

Thanks again.

I'm stuck in chapter 3 too, so I can't help you solve the mystery of the
spider and the spyglass but I can tell you the wordlock answer is
"BRIARS." Without a doubt that lock took me the longest to guess. Good
luck.

The answer is BRIARS.

Chapter 3

The goal of this chapter is to discover who killed the soldiers at
the Black Sheep Tavern. You will find clues in Romney and the Temple
of Kahooli, north of Kenting Rush. Resale prices are high for weapons
and armor near Romney ž due to the Guild War.

The Mac Mordain Cadall Mines

Look over the maze maps in MacMordain Cadall Mines, Level 1 and
MacMordain, Level 3 (left), Level 2 (right). Enter the pit in the
second level, where Kobolds will offer to trade ten extra health
points for each suit of Kingdom Armor. Now find the armor by crossing
the river west of Tyr-sog and searching the Dwarvian battleground.
Get the armor from the west side of the river, south of the bridge
and return to the Kobolds. You should only get the extra health once
ž the quest turns off after 1 set of armor is given.

Navon Du Sandau
On the way through Kenting Rush, you will meet Navon Du Sandau at the
intersection east of the Dagger and Star Tavern. After speaking with
him, go north to the Temple.
To get the priest to talk, put all your food into bags and stay
encamped until you are starving. Then go to the Temple, and the
priest will tell you about Navon Du Sandau and give you rations.
Return to Navon Du Sandau, kill him and get the cellar key.

On to Prank's Stone

Find the well south of Kenting Rush and use the Key of Virtue on it
to get a Knight's Piece. (You can also buy a key in Kenting Rush.) To
get a Lightning Staff, enter the house on the south side. Answer
"yes" first, then "no" to the Magician.
Between Cavall Keep and Prank's Stone, approach the Temple of Banath.
Two men will tell you to drop all your metal, then they will steal
it. Banath likes metal; though with it, or without it, you can enter
and be cured.

In the town of Prank's Stone, don't take the road leading west and
north from the mid-town intersection. The real Prank's Stone, at the
end of this road, steals gold and keys if you get too close.

The Caverns

Just north of the Temple, follow the path west to the waterfall. The
caverns are just behind the waterfall. To enter, use the Knight's
Piece on the cavern and waterfall.
From the southwest corner where you arrive, go north through the
room, then east, north through another room (see map in Caverns Under
Caval Keep). Then head east and south to the first passage going
east. Return to the first east door, go west and open the locked door
and the chest ("rope") to get the Abbot's Journal with a clue to the
location of a very special magical weapon. Go north, east, to the
pit, north, east, and use the first east door. Now go south to
another door and use the cellar key. Enter and unlock the chest with
the word "darkness."

I hope this helps you.

I want you to know, I am not doing this to get your secret. But give it to me
anyway, you promised. The andwer to the riddle is BRIARS. And herre's how
to beat the chapter. Go to the temple of Kahooli in Kenting Rush (I think.)
Talk to the High Priestess. She'll tell you to go through some sort of sacred
junk with famine, or whatever. Go outside the temple, and have all three char-
acters drop ALL of their food. Then rest for a while until you start losing
health because of starvation. Then go back to the temple. The priestess will
tell you that you are a true believer, or some junk like that. She'll tell
you to go to a little house on the far east side of town (the one completely
surrounded by baddies.) You tell them that she sent you, and they let you in.
When you go in the house, there's a guy that tells you to go kill that Navon
du Sandau guy. He tells you he is really a Nighthawk. Then go to the other
part of town where you meet Navon. Kill him. He has a key on his body. The
key is the cellar key for the Nighthawks' hideout. Now go back to the place
under the waterfall (Knight's Piece). Open the last door in the room where
the Nighthawk poisons himself. In that room is a mordhel chest. The password
is DARKNESS. Once you open the chest, the chapter ends!
