HELLBENDER: Trial Version 1.01 now online

There's a new version (1.01) of the HELLBENDER demo available on
Microsoft's site which has significantly improved performance over the
first version. Here's one of the places to download it:

Improvements include:
- performance increases -- 20% more frame rate
- added Null Zone to fix joystick drift
- Adobe Type Manager bug fixed (it's compatible now)
- faster network play
If you already downloaded the 1.0 version, there's a 1.01 upgrade
patch. If you use version 1.0, you should upgrade or you won't be
able to play multiplayer games with the 1.01 users!
Get it now and start practicing, because GameSpot is the home of the
exclusive HELLBENDER tournament which begins on September 15. Sign up
begins this weekend on GameSpot.
In a couple days, look for the launch of the new HELLBENDER web site,
too! It will feature an ongoing online prequel by sci-fi movie
screenwriter Geof Miller which leads up to the storyline of the game.
And don't forget that X-Files star Gillian Anderson is the voice of
E.V.E. (Enhanced Virtual Entity), the HELLBENDER craft’s on-board
computer, which issues reports on the status and strength of the
craft...
