Hi everyone,

I'm interested in fiding a good business or tycoon-type simulation
game. I don't want something which just deals with one type of
industry, like Railroad Tycoon. I've read reviews of Capitalism II and
I have a couple questions:

When was Cap 2 released? I remember reading about it a long time ago
(around 1996 or 97). But recent reviews indicate a 2001 release date.

Is there a similar game that's more recent?

For people who played Cap 2, what are your thoughts?
Thanks for any help.

I've played Capitalism II 2 years ago. I don't know when it was
released but it really doesn't matter because as far as I know, it's
the only choice you have for comprehensive business sim. It's a pretty
good game. It touches every aspect and segment of the business world.
Real estate, agriculture, technology, marketing, retailing, stocks and
other stuff I'm sure I've left out. The link below has a bunch of
reviews of the game:

I loved Cap and Cap 2, and yeah sadly there's not a huge number of
games in the same vein.

Wall Street Raider from ronin software:
http://www.roninsoft.com/wsrnew.htm is sorta on the same track.
The new windows version is pretty slick and has some nice improvements,
but I still have a soft spot for the frenzy of the old dos version.
Shareware. Finding juicy companies to dismember is a way faster
route to profits than building up, but hey, the other option is there
at least ;)

And lavamind: http://www.lavamind.com with Gazillionaire, Zapitalism
and Profitania. I played the original Gazillionaire back in the day, a
lot like Space Bucks (trading game) IIRC. It was fun for a bit, but I
didn't play it for days like Cap. Their Zapitalism and Profitania do
look like they have more manufacturing and retailing. I always meant
to try em out, but without a demo to suck me in, I never actually got
around to it...

You can try Port Royale if you like oldschool business.

Is there a difference between the Jewel Case Cap2 (with some
rich-looking guy lounging on his car) by Englight and the DVD-packaged
"Trevor Chan's Capitalism2" software? I'm seeing both online, but at
slightly different prices...
