I have this KVM switch which uses control-control to switch PCs. It
totally sucks if you try to play any game with control as the fire
button. I want to buy another KVM switch which doesn't have this
problem, but it's not clear which ones don't. Even the 4-port
ones mostly seem to use control-control-# to switch which I
suspect might still interfere with firing. Anyone else deal with
this problem? Appreciate any ideas.

There are options. I'm at work now so I can't tell you the make but my
kvm switch uses scroll lock-scroll lock as the switching hotkey. It
does have its own similar issue. It has a mode which cycles the
display between all the computers hooked up to it. To toggle that
display, it uses 3 quick <shift>s in a row. That's usually not a
problem but when you map the shift key to the flippers for a little
pinball action, it can cause problems. :-) I got it at best buy last
year. A coworker has a 2 port mini made by Inland that uses <scroll
lock> <scroll lock> <up arrrow> as its hotkeys.

Same here, my KVM also uses the scroll lock to turn on all of its
switch by keyboard options. It's a "Sitecom" unit. Can't help with
telling you where to get one of those - I got mine at a computer fair
that you're highly unlikely to be near ;-)

Mine's the 2 port - the 4 port linked above was the number 1
suggestion from Google for "Sitecom kvm switch".

PS Been looking at a couple of other pages at the prices. I got my KVM
for about £20-£25. The online prices seem mostly more. Ouch! If you
live in the UK, you might be near one of the places these people go to
