Thanks

It is D3D only and you should know if your card supports it.

Denny, what is your opinion of this kind of marketing crap (I'm sure you
can guess what my opinion is), where they throw a 3DFX sticker on the box,
leading people to believe Glide is being used instead of D3D?

There is no such thing. :) When you write a "D3D" program, you
pretty much have to ==test== it with every 3D board out there, then go
back and make special tweeks and fixes for the various boards. They
all do things slightly differently which will make your game look/play
slightly differently (or ahem.. not run at all).
So yes, and no... when they say it's "3DFX" that means they tested it
with 3Dfx and made it run nicely (which it does).
Bottom line, if your 3D board supports Direct3D, it's worth a try...
but don't place any bets on it running at all unless it's one of the
listed "supported" boards...
P.s. what the heck is a Thriller 3D? It is a Rendition? PowerVR?
S3???

For what it's worth I have an STB velocity 128 (nvidia riva128)
and my graphics options are
3d acceleration NONE: fast and quite pretty
3d acceleration PRIMARY DISPLAY DRIVER: prettier but frame rates
are less than 1 per second.
I assume it isn't using the 3d hardware at all but using software
emulation.
anyone else got this setup

Just got back from a trip and first chance to respond. OK, I will bite,
how am I suppose to know if my Thriller is supported? It is a Rendition
board but will not run Indycar II with out some weird patches that the
guys over at the racing sim news group came up with. From what I
understand, not all D3D games that run on the V1000 boards will run
on the V2100/V2200 boards, there fore the original question.

Actually, it supports both RRedline and D3D... Glide was supposed to be in there
but now that Bryan is no longer heading it up... I've got my doubts about this
one...
Having played an pre-beta demo, this was one sim that had LOTS of potential... P200
MMX with a Total 3D... Smoother than my PURE 3D & Longbow 2. Really...
You shoulda seen the Virtual Cockpit.... cool indeed....

Thanks for the response, but as they say, been there, done that before asking the
question of the group. While Looking Glass has a very nice FAQ section and
does cover 3D boards, they are either 3Dfx, Riva 128, or V1000 boards. The
Hercules site, well they do tell you what a GREAT board the Thriller is and
some nice specs but no compatibility issues, or game supported. So after going
there I came here. And know thanks to the post from "The Guys @Viirtual"
I have an answer, will buy the sim, and that's what this group is all about.
Thanks
