Hi,

Could someone please tell me the exact procedure for launcing a KH-41 missile
from an SU-33?

Here is the procedure I have been using:

- Select a ship as primary target during the mission planning phase
- After takeoff, turn on the radar by pressing I
- Go into ground attack mode by pressing 7
- Upon sighting the target, with the clear diamond on it, press fire
- Nothing happens!

I have tried multiple times. Thanks for help!

I can't remember exactly but... i think you have to press tab after turning
on the radar to lock the target. Then fire.

Hi Nate, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, no, this is not the answer. I tried using the TAB key to lock
as I was approaching the target. It didn't affect anything.

Have you managed to launch one of these particular missiles yourself? If so,
would you be able to retrace your steps exactly? This is still baffling me.
It's frustrating carrying this quite heavy missile out to sea and then not
being able to fire it!

Thanks very much again for any advice.

Hi,

Since I am still experiencing this issue, this post is another plea for help.

If anyone has successfully launched a KH-41 missile from an SU-33 in LOMAC,
please respond with the details of how exactly you did this. I have not been
able to get this to work, and therefore do not have the ability to attack
large ships at the moment. I would really like to know what I am doing wrong!

Thanks very much for any advice.

Sorry meant to get back to you earlier,

Anyway it does work, i've just done it 2 minutes ago.
Having read your initial post again it occurs to me that you are trying to
activate the radar while not in A/G mode. You must first select a mode (A/A
or A/G) and then engage the radar.

Hi Nate. Thanks very much for replying to me again.

I've been experimenting a little more and discovered that if I create a quick
anti-ship mission in the Fast Battle Planner, the missile does indeed fire.
However, if I create an identical mission but use the Mission Editor, it does
not. Quite bizarre. I think it's basically a bug. I'll just accept this. If I
create any more anti-ship missions using the Mission Editor, I'll have to
content myself with hitting civilian yachts with Mavericks. That works. :-)

I think you're on the right track with the order being important though. When
I was flying the FBP mission, I somehow disabled the missile by changing the
resolution on the radar and switching to air-to-air mode briefly. Nothing I
did after that brought it back active again.

The other interesting thing I noted was that after hitting the Elnya tanker
with the missile in the FBP mission, it was not destroyed. Tough ship.

Perhaps this bizarre behavior will be fixed in a patch at some point. Until
then, I'll probably stick to other types of missions.

Anyway, thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
