You have to be in the turret to use the tractor or use/activate guns
back there. (Turret guns are a waste of time IMHO). To place bought weapons
in the turret you cursor to the bottom rear of the ship till it says place
in turret. Turret view is F5, not the same method as the other WC games.
I have found it easiest to lock onto the target in front view, switch to rear
<f5> and press <Return> to activate the tractor beam. Apparently the rear
turret will work firing the tractor beam forward.
This makes it easier because you don't have a scanner available from the rear
turret. :-)

You have to use one of the "F" buttons to enter the (basically) useless turret,
then cycle through weapons, etc.
Happy hunting.

Use F5 to switch to your rear turret (F6 switches to your second turret if you have one), press W to
select your tractor beam, lock onto your target (L) and then fire as if you were launching a missile
(both buttons). A blue line (your tractor beam) will shoot forth to the locked target and drag it in.
Some times you are required to fire continuously (repeatedly).
Guns will fire in the same manner, F5 to switch to turret, G to select guns and away you go!
Best of Luck *Privateer*.

As the manual mentions it...:
You can look thru your turrets by using the F5 and/or F6 key, depending on how
many turrets you have. F5 is the first, F6 the second one.
Mounting guns and weapons on a turret is similar to mounting them on the ship's
body. When you are in the upgrade&repair room, select a weapon and move it to
where the turret seems to be located (you can't see it directly, but moving it
to the top of the ship should show an option like 'top turret' a.s.o.)
Activating your weapons is similar to activating your main weapons, but you have
to switch to your turret first via F5/F6.
To use your tractor beam, you have to 'lock' your target first. When you can see
it in your window, 'fire' the tractor beam like a missile, but hold down the keys
or buttons until the target is in your cargo bay (sounds like a closing door).
Hope this will help you,
