Instructions for X36USB and Cyborg 3d USB Stick:
Unplug your joystick.
Run NukeUSB to remove existing USB driver. (Cyborg stick users skip this
step).
uninstall SGE.
Restart PC
Install DirectX 7.0a if not done already.
Restart PC.
Run SGE1_1.exe
follow on-screen instructions until finished. This will include plugging
stick into USB port when asked. After installation, if you prefer Game port
connection, you can unplug USB and connect to the game port. Add the driver
in the usual way in Game Controller applet.
(Cyborg users: Once finished, Open the game controller applet. If it shows a
Windows HID device, close the window, disconnect the USB connector, run
NukeUSB.exe, and remove the HID driver. Then, plug the Cyborg into the USB
port and the proper saitek driver will load.
Thats it, you're done.
An SGE manual will be available for download in Acrobat format.

Mark,
Hi, you might remember me from the Flanker forum. I had trouble editing
Froglips config file. SGE was not loading/recognizing the commands that
I had assigned to the Hat 3 on Modes 2 and 3 while engaging the pinkie switch.
Basically whatever I had programmed on Mode 1 was being used for Mode's 2
and 3, this was without the "use unshifted command" selected. So I got the new
software and installed it. It did not ask me to plug in my USB stick from what
I saw,
maybe I missed it but I was looking for it to ask that. I did everything else
as you
instructed in your above post. I have 7.0a already installed. I took the old
profiles from
the previous install and copied them over to this new program. I then added the
functions
that I was having trouble with in the old software. I choose to manual configre
the profile
just to be safe. Loaded up Flanker and tried it out. Not only did the edits I
made not work
but the one that was working (Mode 1 / Pinkie) was not working either. Any
ideas, do
I need to re-import the file in the new software? And when will the
documentation be available?
Thanks
Jesse

I loaded the newer software and imported a Falcon 4 file I had been using.
With the older SGE software I was having problems with the pinky switch
causing all buttons to revert to the Mode 1 programmed keystrokes regardless
of the mode switch position. I was rather dismayed to see the same thing
happen with the latest version of the SGE software. So I started from
scratch and completely re-programmed a new Falcon 4 file. Everything works
just like it should! No more pinky switch problems!
So if your having problems try re-programming your files before you blame
this new SGE software, it may have been the older buggy SGE that created the
problems. Now at last the Saitek X-36 USB combo lives up to it's claims!

No I bit the bullet and re-did the command list. I know it's pain in the
...... oh well you know. But I wanted to be sure that I had a completely
clean start to see if the SGE software was indeed the problem.
Smaller files that utilized only one mode have been usable and I haven't had
to re-do them.
So far I've noticed 2 minor problems with the SGE software.
First I've noticed that after programming for a long period of time the
fonts in the "Mode" or the "View" window become bold and some icons disapear
or change to numbers. For instance the "?" icon that opens up the properties
window to allow editing the buttons will disapear and the down arrow that
pulls down the list of programed keystrokes turns into a bold number "6".
Also the keyboard icons in the Command Editor window disapear and you just
see the test for the keys in bold letters. Re-starting the SGE software has
no effect on correcting this. The only way I've found to correct it is to
re-boot the computer.
The second problem is that when playing Janes F/A-18 and using the Saitek
auto configure mode the joystick only holds it's program for the first
mission played. If you choose another mission none of the programmed
keystrokes are loaded. This is most likely a conflict with F/A-18 as I have
not seen this in other games I've tried so far. Manually configuring the
stick prior to starting F/A-18 sloves this problem.
So far so good. This SGE version is better than previous versions but there
are still underlying problems that I believe affect windows explorer.

Thanks for the insight, I think I will have to rebuild my profiles also to
avoid any future problems(just to be on the safe side)
As far as F/A-18 goes... I think that when you exit a mission, the
debriefing window opens an explorer window or some other program outside the
F/A-18 folder and causes the SGE to revert to unprogrammed default...at
least that is how I see it. Anyway the only workaround I know of is to
manually set it to F/A-18 before opening game and all is fine until game
crashes.

Thanks for the heads up Mark! Quick question, will the new software provide an option to
print out the various commands that we have created in the profiles? As I'm starting to
get on in years, I find it tough to have to try and memorize all the variations that I
have for different games. Thanks!
