I've install Falcon 4 w/o any problem, I can watch the intro movie too.
After that, Falcon 4 will exit and nothing happen... I have the latest
driver from 3dfx and my graphic card is the Guillemot AGP Phoneix Gamer.
I also tried Guillemot's latest drive but no luck. I spend 2 hours on
the phone with the technical support and nothing came out positive. Is
anyone out there can help me or have the similar problem? Please let me
know...

A couple of things to try: first, lower your desktop resolution to
640x480x256 before launching F4; also, disable any desktop
wallpaper/background; make sure your refresh rates are set to "adapter
default" or something safe like 60Hz; finally, if all else fails, have a
look at the Banshee Troubleshooting FAQ at www.billsworkshop.com
Good luck

I have the PCI version of the same card, and I recently installed the
drivers found in DGP9X103.ZIP from Guillemot. Falcon 4 is running
very well with this combination. I'm running Win98 and DirectX6, and
I'm running my NEC XV17+ at 75Hz refresh rate. Falcon 4 switches from
my desktop default of 1024x768x24bit to its own 640x480 and back
without a hitch.

In situations like yours, it seems that the answer usually lies in
going back and doing a careful review and reinstallation of both video
*and* sound drivers, and of DirectX6. Compatibility between your
Glide version and your DirectX installation seems to matter even if
you're running Glide; you might want to let Falcon4 reinstall DirectX6
for you.

I hope you can get sorted out. Banshee is a great chipset for F4.

Whats this 'guillemot' card? Never heard of them, see, this is what you
get when you buy no name folks. I'd rather spend an extra $30 bucks and
be home free than be a cheep ass and pull out my hair!

Hope you can get it working though Jason....

I'm running it at a Monster Fusion AGP with 3dfx reference driver 1.0. Max
detail runs smooth except when disk swaps (gotta get more RAM)

I had the EXACT same problem that stumped me for several
hours.........what I did was to allow Falcon to install into the
"default" directory that it suggests without moving Falcon to my
"Games" folder, which is a real annoyance but it's up and running now
at least.

A pet peeve of mine, (I hate how Sierra foces that "Sierra" directory)
but, at least it's running.

I had to do the same thing...was running in my D/jets directory....had to
re-install on to C to really get it working properly....and I had the same
gripe with Sierra...kinda sucks but that's the trade off for good
performance, I guess........

Guillemot (www.guillemot.com) are a very well respected European company.
They made a real name for themselves in audio hardware, but have now moved
into other areas, particularly video cards. They are hardly a no-name
company. I have owned two cards from them and have absolutely no
complaints; they're based on the 3Dfx reference designs, and usually sell
for less than the competition. e.g. $99 for a 12MB V2. If you had done any
hardware research at all, instead of relying on what products are available
at the local mall, you would undoubtedly have heard of them. Their Phoenix
Banshee has been reviewed in most of the major on-line hardware review
sites, very favourably. The only Banshee that outperforms it is the Diamond
Monster Fusion, which is overclocked and comes with a fan, but costs roughly
$40 - $50 more.

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from Creative Labs? I have a
Banshee and had the same problems. After installing the new drivers, it
worked fine. If it still doesn't, install DirectX 6.0 that came with Falcon
4.0. Hope this helps.

Jason,
Have you tried the MPRTEST utility ? run mprtest from your
Falcon 4.0 directory. it will show you the 2d / 3d detected on your
system. also mprtest -help will give you more information on how to
try different video modes to see if the problem lies in the driver you
have installed. this is also explained in the knowledge base at
www.falcon4.com let me know what happens.

The only thing I can assure you is that my Monster Fusion Banshee AGP with
3DFX reference driver (final release version 1.0) works great under F4. The
only problem so far is F4 listed 1280x1024 mode in Glide but the driver
doesn't support it. I can play F4 at 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and
1600x1200 but not 1280x1024. And my banshee card is overclocked to 115/125.

Check www.billsworkshop.com for trouble shooting of you Banshee card.

Me neither.

Ehhh.. Mine is a K6-200 and 64 mb ram. Obviously not enough
to run F4 smooth. :-(
