Can someone give me a little info on Thrustmasters?
As I uderstand it...it goes like this:
Thrustmaster Mark I - modeled after F4E
Thrustmaster Mark II - as above but made with metal base and better
parts
Thrustmaster FLCS - Modeled after F16
Plus numerous throttles?
any help appreciated!

Close. The Mk II is very similar to the Mk I, it has a plastic base, rubber
boot, and a square ring around the boot. It has the normal 15 pin connector
for PC game ports. I think the Mk I has the Mac ADB port (I've seen Mk Is
hooked up to SGI workstations).

I suggest you check out Thrustmasters Homepage: www.thrustmaster.com
or drop a line to them at sup...@thrustmaster.com

To my best recollection:

Mark I FCS is based on the F4 and early F15 stick.
Pro FCS is constructed to a large part out of metal and has an internal
system to give you resistance feed back. The farther you move the
stick away from center the harder it becomes to move it.
Many people swear by it as the most realistic stick they have used.
Both of the sticks above are non programble by themselves and
depend on the game to decide what the hat and buttons will do.
The FLCS comes right out of the F16 and is programble on its own.
The WCS MK II throttle is based on what I beleive was the early F15
eagle quadrant and is programle and will also program the hat and
buttons of the FCS and FCS pro. The WCS MKII also works fine with
the FLCS F16 stick.
The F16 Throttle is the last quadrant and is strickly a slave unit
to the FLCS F16 stick.
I have used all these products over the years with the exception of
only testing the F16 throttle and the FCS Pro at friends houses.
I highly recomend them and the service that Thrustmaster backs
their product with. Thrustmaster has a very detailed description
of their products at their web site, and will be happy to send
any information via their support e-mail address if you do not
have web access.

(ProgramableThrottle)

Thrustmaster FLCS F16
(fully programable joystick)

Thrustmaster TQS
(Programable throttle only for the FLCS)

Thrustaster ACM Speed Adjustable game card

Thrustmaster T1 & T2 Steering Wheel & Pedals Combo

Thrustmaster RCS Rudder Control System

There is also the $500.00 limited edition og the F16 FLCS, though a bit
expensive.

Opps I forgot one, the Thrustmaster Pro FCS, which is the same as the
Mark II FCS only with a metal base and nicer springs.

Have you ever seen (or used) one? The mechanical insides of the PFCS that I have,
is much different than the FCS MkI or FCS MkII. And... What do you mean "nicer
springs"? Are they more user friendly?

WCS - Throttle modeled after the F-15 (I think) 6 buttons and rocker.
Programmable with any stick

I hope nobody is actually thinking of bagging the TM-PFCS ?

Mine has so many hours of AirWarrior and WarBird multiplayer combat
time it would not be possible to calculate....haven't even stripped
it down ONCE yet....

You CANNOT get a more robust, responsive and sheer *feel* joystick
than that PFCS....with 28lb springs in it you can even get something
approaching *feedback* with it...sure helps to contain overcontrolling
or heavy handedness :)

It is without doubt, damn brilliant.

It's not really modelled after anything by the looks of it. It could be an
F-15, it could be an F/A-18, it could be a potato :) I like to think of it as
a combination of the 2 planes with a touch of Salvadore Dali thrown in - It's
vaguely familiar to something you've seen before but you can't put a name to
it.

Thrustmaster Mark I for Mac connects to the ADB Port on your keyboard or
directly to computer's keyboard ADB port. Plug has piggy back to let you
plug the keyboard or the mouse to the ADB port as well. Stick has 3 buttons,
1 trigger and
8 position "Hat" control on the top of the stick - all user programmable.

The Weapons Control System Mark I has throttle with 6 buttons and a 3 way
rocker
switch for 18 user programmable functions. It daisy chains off base of the
throttle.

On Mac platform both are programmable.

The combo is referred to as the HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick)

The HAT is cool for looking around in Marathon. Works great with F-18
Hornet.

Not the same at all!
Just same handle. Not only does it have a metal base and heavier springs ,but
all metal gimbals and hinges! A MUCH superior stick to the FCS and well worth
the extra money.

The best thing to do is visit ThrustMaster's Homepage
at http://www.thrustmaster.com .

MarkI FCS is modeled after the stick in the F4 as is the
MarkII FCS. The MarkII FCS is just a newer model with
enhancements and improvements over the MarkI FCS. The PFCS
has the same handle as the MarkII FCS but it's gimbal
assembly is made of metal and it's spring tension is a lot
greater than the FCS (and even FLCS). The spring tension
is approximately 20lbs. The PFCS also has a metal base and
metal top plate, where the gimbal assembly is mounted.

The F-16 FLCS is modelled after the F-16 Falcon's Mod Block
50 stick. It has 3 button switches, 1 Paddle Switch, a
dual-stage trigger, 4 four-way switches and is fully
programmable.

More info can be found at TM's Web site.
