LOL-Entering Urbish mines-HOW?

Hi,
I've been through the swamps, Opinwood, and Upper Opinwood; I'm trying
to get into the Urbish Mines, but the only door is guarded by a slug that
eats my weapons and kills me (Kieran and Barraca).

Is there an alternate route? The only area I haven't explored was blocked
off by Scotia; do I have to go there first? I've tried to kill the slug with
everything I've got (except for my own beer breath) and I'm pretty
frustated. Any help would be VERY appreciated.

The best way to do this is to use the green skulls, found in the forests.
They cast a poison gas spell that makes short order of that slug. When
you have used up your magic, just run outside to rest and then continue
the fight.

Nope. You gotta kill it. You cannot get by Scotia's gate without
a special item found deep in the mines. For fighting, try the Rogue-
building technique, or the attack& dodge technique. (I played with
Akshel, and a good bit of healing magic helps a lot here.)

I'm told the green skull is effective against the slug... never tried
it myself, so I'll take their word for it... I found missile weapons
to be a good way to kill the slug... grab a good dagger with your
hand/cursor, throw it at the slug, pick it up off the floor, throw it
back at him... when you get hurt, go outside, sleep it off, then go
back for another round... will take 3 or 4 trips, but you'll see it
getting worse and worse off.... and it's good for your rogue levels.

The slug is tough. You can kill it with poison. Did you find any green
skulls in your journeys? I found two, one in Opinwood. Pick up the green
skull and right click over your picture. This creates a cloud of poison
gas. You may need to do this a couple of times then run away to heal. Be
sure to leave the mines, as the slug will chase you. After a few hits, the
slug takes damage and eventually dies.
