More like Alone in The Dark than System Shock. In my opinion it is a
good game although doesn't have the same depth as System Shock. If you
like AITD you will like Bioforge but don't expect a massive game. The
box recommends a 486DX50 but I reckon it will run satisfactorily on
your system.

Hi Karen -
My honest opinion - and my opinion only - it's not that good.
First, the minimum requirements are:
486 / 50Mhz CPU (Pentium 60 optimum)
8 megs RAM (16 megs optimum)
double speed CD-ROM
and 30 megs hard drive space
There are 4 install configurations - from tiny (5.6 megs) to large (55.4 megs)
- but anything less than the 30.6 meg install means constant CD-ROM reads
which slows the game down.
Next, the Extended Memory requirements are rather high requiring (in many
instances) a dedicated "maximum memory" boot diskette. This can make running
the game a little tricky - unless you are very familiar with autoexec.bat and
config.sys set ups and their various parameters.
Finally, the game itself has not been perfected yet. There are many
inconsistencies and inaccuracies. I've discovered a glaring spelling mistake
on one of the control panels (not a big deal but it points to an unrefined
product). The gameplay is at times overly frustrating and the "action to
downtime" ratio is too high.
There's a mixed review of Bioforge on the Happy Puppy Games Onramp at

If you have any questions get back to me.
Hope this helps avoid disappointment...
