I like:

The Black Sword (Good Weapon, *lots* of damage) :: Avatar
Firedoom Staff (Big time lots of damage, light) :: Avatar when he's
alone (fireballs hurt party members) The advantage here is that
when the Avatar is traveling alone, he needs light, voila!
Juggernaut Hammer (Way cool) :: Dupre
Fire Sword (Decent damage, one hand, provides light) :: Sentri
Magic Bow (With Magic Arrows) :: Shamino
Triple Crossbow (Good Damage) :: Iolo (except when he shoots you!)
Sword of Defense (I dunno, it sounds good) :: Julia and Jaana -
they're useless in a fight anyway
Hoe of Destruction (Need I say more) :: Spark

I myself found the Halberd to be _the_ most awsome weapon in
the game...just give one to each person and be happy(unless you have
the black sword)

Your forgetting two really good weapons...
Lightning whip (long range, quick, and good damage)
Death Scythe (This just rocks!)

Also the magic boomerang is good for killing dragons when they are on
the other side of a wall. It passes through walls, which makes it
great.

I never really trust the firedoom staff, it hurts my party more than the
enemies.

: Juggernaut Hammer (Way cool) :: Dupre

Juggernaut hammers do a lot of damage and at great range, get as amny as
you can.

: Fire Sword (Decent damage, one hand, provides light) :: Sentri

: Magic Bow (With Magic Arrows) :: Shamino
: Triple Crossbow (Good Damage) :: Iolo (except when he shoots you!)

Sword of defense is just a sword that adds to your armor value.

: Hoe of Destruction (Need I say more) :: Spark

I wish I knew how much dammage these things do.

Also good weapons are:

Magebane, it sounds nice and does good damage but does it have any effect
on spellcasters.

Magic axes, ok damage but good range.

Death scythe, I think it curses your target and hits hard.
Lightning whips are ok.

Jaana kicks butt with the Hoe. I didn't have Julia in my party,
so I can't comment on her. (In fact, I never did have over
7 party members)

I had Spark carry a Death Scythe. He was always one of the
last to die in battle after getting that weapon.

Could somebody tell me where I can find a Black Sword in the Black Gate?
I also found a book on how to forge a sword, does this actually have any
purpose?

Thanx.

Sort of. You DO have make the black sword, but you don't need to go
through ALL the steps listed in the "What Color is Thy Blade" book. You
won't be able to make the black sword until after you've bested the
dragon the first time in the Test of Courage on the Isle of Fire. You
can't get the black sword at all if you don't have Forge of Virtue installed.

In U7.5, you START with the black sword, but don't get to keep it for
long unfortunately. When you find it again later in the game, you *still*
don't get to keep it for long. Elusive weapon, that.

Where is this infamous hoe of destruction?????. It got a lot of hype, but I
must have opened every rotting corpse on the shores of that lake looking for a
key, used endless kegs to blow up the door, and tried everything magical short
of Armageddon to get into the barn where it's supposed to be.

I finished the game and all, but my intellectual curiousity on the matter is
unwavering.

Forget the key...I just took a barrel of gunpower and blew up the shed door

JW> I wish I knew how much dammage these things do.

The hint book has a complete list of weapons. There are some surprises.
Here are some highlights:

Weapon Damage Range (in steps)
-------------- ------ ----------------
Bow 6 10
Magic Bow 12 16
Infinity Bow 6 14
Crossbow 10 13

arrow +1
arrow, burst +2
arrow, magic +4
arrow, serpent +1
bolt +0
bolt, magic +2

FireWand 10 8
FireSword 8 2
MagicSword 7 2
Sword, 2 hand 8 4
Shovel 6 2 <------ who knew ?
Sword, Defense 6 2
Sword, Serpent 6 2
Spear 6 2
Sword 6 2
MageBane 9 2
Lghtning Whip 10 3
Hammer, 2 hand 9 3
Juggernaut 25 16
FireDoom Staff 20 10
Fishing Rod 1 3 <--------- hehehe
Scythe 7 2
Axe, 2 hand 7 4

So, beside the Juggernaut and the FireDoom, plain old crossbow and
magic bow look pretty good, especially with magic arrows/bolts.

Not true...when you get the sword again, you keep it till the end of the
game...it just won't be as powerful as it used to be. Since you
released the demon in it. but is still very powerful.

If you have the book "More Avatar Adventures", you can find a weapons table
that list them there. There's a bit of a trick, though: the weapon's
table for U7 is for some reason located in the Ultima Underworld section of
the book.

If I recall, it was something like:
Glass Swords 127
Death Scythe 50
Hoe of Desctruction 20

I can't remember the other's. I'm pretty sure the Juggernaut Hammer was
somewhere just below the Hoe of Destruction, but I'm not sure.

Ok Here goes : Instead of finding the */"#、%、# key at the Lake, Remember Rudyam in
(I think) Cove he's gone quite loonie but he does tell you something about his Wand
and how it can detonate blackrock so just take/get his wand and a piece of blackrock
go to the shed, drop the blackrock in front of the door, stand back and use the wand
on the blackrock - that should do the trick in stead of powder kegs and magic.
(_REAL_ men use blackrock, whimps and sissies use keys :) )

The How of Destruction is in the shed of the guy right outside of Britain, the
one who says he's killed a space martian with a shovel or something? It's in
his shed, he'll even tell you, but it's locked, The key is in a dead fish in
the lake nearby. Have fun searching!

Doesn't the looney farmer say that he killed a TigerLion from outer space
with the hoe of destruction? And he also said that the "TigerLion" told
him to Kill Wrathy which seems to be a reference to another Origin game
called Wing Commander. Oh the dead fish is in the upper left corner of the
lake where it is bordered by the swamp.

This brings back memories! I spent countless house rummaging thru all
the garbage around the lake, never did find that key. Did you know that
there actually is a spaceship crashed in the crop field north of the
guy's shack? There was some blurbs that are an obvious reference to
Wing Commander.

Another way to do it is this. Go to Buccaneer's Den and look for Huggy Bear,
the Pimp of Destruction. He can lead you to the Hoe of Destruction, if you
can afford it. And don't forget the Crystal Prophylactic of Protection.
It's the only way to use the Hoe without dying.

Okay.... in addition to those weapons mentioned above, it is possible to get

If you've the add-on for U7, goto the fire-isle, it's near the north-east
corner of the label in the map. It's a new area.

Once there, you can create the ultimate BLACK SWORD, the procedure to
create it is kindly long, so I'll omit them here.

What the sword can do is, the one I wanna do for a long time, is to KILL
LORD BRITISH!! you can ask the sword to kill anyone instantly. EVEN Lord
Briish! Hence, I believe the best weapon in U7 is the Black Sword. It can
also does other neat things like cast a fire spell like delayed blast,
and regenerate avatar's Magic point.

pardon me, but isn't the juggernaut hammer stronger than the hoe of
destruction. This may vary, because the hammer is a projectile, but I usually
can kill a guard with one throw, but with the hoe, it takes 2 to 3 hits

For the absolutely most powerful weapon in the game, the Black Sword
is it. It is the only weapon that can kill Lord British.

Yeah, but you need the "Forge of Virtue" add-on to get it. I think
the Death Scythe is the most powerful weapon...if you know how to get it.

How the Hell do you get the Death Scythe? Is the thingo that the ferryman
(near Skara Brae) is holding? Or do you have to cheat to get it? I vaguely
remember reading something about a (cheats) treasure trove in Minoc.

You can get one semi-legitmately by pulling a lever behind a statue in
the cemetery, (it's hard to see, you'll have to look real closely) which
opens a door, now if you go in there, space is really
tight, but there will be a dresser that you can just barely see. Inside
it are a soul cage and potion neede to trap the Liche, some magic armor
items, some rings, and a death scythe.

I've HEARD (not confirmed) that there is a lever in the graveyard at Skara
Brae that opens a room with a Death Scythe in it. I've CONFIRMED (and heard)
that there is a lever behind the Stone of Castambre on the Isle of Fire (FOV
add on) that opens up a passage with a Death Scythe and 6 or so glass swords.
The lever is REALLY hard to see, you get about 1 pixel of it. :)
