I would appreciate any help on this weird problem i've got: I have Alone in the Dark 2
but during setup it doesn't give me any music option (although SFX are ok) and worst of
all it recognises my video display as...MCGA 256!!!
I have an ATI 64-bit video driver with 2Megs of RAM, an SVGA monitor (the Gateway 2000
15-inch monitor) and my soundcard is Ensoniq Soundscape (16-bit) which provides for
SB emulation. The machine itself is a Pentium 75, although it shouldn't really matter
(unless if the OLP/2 detection fails due to the sheer speed of the damned thing;but even so why doesn't it recognise my video display for what it is?!)
For those in the know, the vsb_emm TSR won't work for music (with the /nodsp option
on) so what is going on?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

Pi

I haven't played AITD2, but AITD1 and AITD3 are only standard VGA
games, so it doesn't matter what kind of video card you have, that's as
good as it gets. As for sound, it only detects for a DAC card that is
Sound Blaster compatable (pretty easy, most sound cards are). For music,
it may look for an FM type synth (I believe AITHD1 used FM), but AITD3
did all of its music via the sound link on the CD-ROM (use earphones or
have the audio cable hooked up between the sound card and CD-ROM drive),
so changes in the music configuration may not be needed.

In general, the configuration program is a waste of time for the AITD
games. I've never seen any other I-Motion games (anyone got any names?)
so the configuration program may be more applicable to them.
