You can do both.
SPOILERS ON EVERY WAY I CAN REMEMBER ON DYING AND GETTING STUCK!!!!

Dying:

Nuking the pool water.
Showing GT that you have a music contract (as opposed to GT getting one).
Showing GT PM's book contract.
Not turning the fuses back on in time.
Trying to enter the security door with a stolen game.
Showing WE the, um, remains.
Being in the pool while another character fills it.
Entering PM's room while he's still there and not having protection.

Stuck:
Guy with key in cellar, and other two outside with door closed.
Sending junk to the publisher*
Ripping the envelope*
Ruining the manuscript*
Using the Edsel too soon**
Killing the plant with someone in the observatory.
Calling cops too often*
Exposing film*
Letting WE get package from outside*

* Depends on who you're using. IE, unless you have Wendy, ruing the
manuscript won't matter a bit.

A bit unfair by LA's current standards, but very lienient as opposed to what
was being written by other companies in 1988.

Oops, missed this part. There's a brick under one window. Have the least
useful character (AKA Dave <g>) push it, swith to another guy and have him
run out the door. Later, you'll find a real key, perhaps.

i hear you can die in this LuscasArts Game, my question is do the kids
real get kill and die in the game or just suck at the dead end ?

because now all three of the kids are lock up in the dungeon and i can't
find a way to get out.

and do the puzzle in this game must solve in exact order ? like when i

first meet green tentacle look like i must give him food first and drink
second , if i do it in reveres order then i will come to dead end
because i already use up the drink. so all the puzzle in here like that
? if so that real take some time to get use to from most of the modern
adv. game i played

It shone, pale as bone,
As I stood there alone.
And I thought to myself how the moon,
That night, cast its light,
On my heart's true delight,
And the reef where her body was strewn.

Together this time.......

There is a loose brick which you can push with one of them that opens
the door

Both... You can die and you can get stucked.

Don't kill the messenger, but you have to reload.

The puzzles are not linear... you can solve them in any order you want.
But, once again, it's VERY EASY to reach a dead end.

They die and chances to win the game tend to zero (although the alive
characters can still roam around the mansion and if you select a dead
o-e the game shows its tombstone planted in the garden.

Gee! If you have TWO kids in the dungeon, one of them may get out! Just
notice one of the stones in the walls wich can be pushed, and while
pushed the cell door keeps open!

By the way, did you try putting Ed's hamster in the microwave and
then showing the remains to ed? That IS one of the funniest scenes in
adventure games, i think.

See ya!
