P.S. If you're planning to "run out and buy" Reah, you're already several
weeks behind schedule. ;-)

From what I found so far, Liath will be even better than Reah. Ring also
would go on my list. Georgette

So I've heard. To anyone who has played Reah, how is it? LOL I just want
to make sure that it's a great game before I "run out and buy it". I don't
think I've seen a review of it, if there is one, can you point me in the
right direction? I feel completely lost after leaving JA. *sigh*

Reah is a puzzle game in the guise of an adventure, but it's a little more
adventure-y than something like Jewels of the Oracle. It has some truly
great puzzles, some truly diabolical, and some that we've all seen before.
No mazes, no sliding tile puzzles, but quite a few audio puzzles. I give it
two thumbs up, but I like puzzles.

Games I'm most looking forward to:

1. GK3
2. The Longest Journey
3. Riddle of the Sphinx

For adventure games, I'd say
1. Gabriel Knight : Blood of the Sacred, BLood of the Damned
2. The Longest Journey

.......maybe Big Brother, but that's actually just about it :(

since I did not have to change disks every five minutes. I loved the graphics
and the puzzles (no great surprises but well integrated into the story) but
was a little disappointed with the ending. The best reviews of adventure
games is at www.gamesdomain.com, especially reviews of what will be coming
out in the near and not so near future. I am looking for the game called
Liath. It has been released in UK but I can't find a shop or a site where I
can order it by phone or over the net. If anyone knows where to look, please
let me know. Georgette

It isn't, I am afraid. It is a fantasy adventure and you couldn't compare it
with Reah. It has beautiful graphics, but a lot of flaws. It has an awfull
interface. You have to click three or four times to be able to look at items
in your inventory etc. Also the game engine isn't the same. It doesn't have a
(predefined) 380 degree perspective. You can use a lot of spells in this
game, but I thought this feature was rather borring. Is has a lot of "stand
alone" locations; just on location (screen) to visit and to say something or
get something. I stopped playing the game 2/3 (but I have still a lot of
adventures to play); and noticed only one big complex of locations - a
village - to explore and to find and combine things, which makes a game
interesting.

To conclude: if you consider e.g. G. Fandango as a very good adventure (10),
and timelapse as a rather good adventure (8), and Reah as a less of a good
adventure (7), the next stop is Liath (6). But it isn't certainly a "bad"
adventure.

Concerning your question in your other mail: at the project2 site it is
stated that distribution in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be handled
exclusively by Acclaim Entertainment Ltd (http://www.acclaim.net/) Perhaps
you can mail them for the release date. The game is released in Holland and
you can order the game at several sites in Holland (english version). If you
want to have an url, let me know so.

The best adventure games this year will be:

1) Discworld Noir looks extremely cool and I gather it is going to be
great fun to play, with a style of gameplay different to the usual
adventure game formula. One of the few promising games out before
Christmas (this or next month release date!).

2) Simon the Sorcerer III - I played the first two and this third one
looks even better. These games are some of the select few that can
compete with LucasArts. Apparently, this will be the first proper
adventure ever in real-time 3D. Shame it's not out till Christmas.

3) Good & Evil - I like the idea of time travelling through loads of
different worlds - the gameplay sounds fun and the guy who made Monkey
Island is designing it - it can't fail.

Could somebody tell me - what is 'The Longest Journey'?

Hmm... Looks like you may never get to play your top two most awaited games
of the year!

I'm really looking forward to (in no particular order)

Diskworld Noir
Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria
The Prince & the Coward
Gabriel Knight 3 (even though I probably won't be able to play it)

I thought Sierra closed down and that GK3 is on hold -- can anyone comment
on this? This is really the only adventure game that I am looking forward to.
