1) Explosive trapped chests: How do I disarm them without totally
killing the character? Aren has not yet developed any spells and neither
Willaim or Kaelyn have enough Assessment ability to note that a chest is
trapped in advance.
2) How do I give 10 burlas to Korellyn? When in dialog with her I am
unable to access both the money and her picture at the same time (the
hand icon only works for non-food/money objects). When I seperate 10
burlas they go into a sack on the ground. And she never asks for the
burlas directly.
All help would be appreciated.

You've probably either figured it out for yourself by now, or gotten
totally frustrated.

You can't really do much about this until you either get the Sense
Trapped Chests spell and/or build up lockpicking skills. Aren's
lockpicking is the highest to start with so he's a good choice. I never
used that spell, but I got by some of the trapped chests with high
lockpicking. However, there were a couple of chests I never could open
without practically killing everyone. If they don't all get killed,
just do it anyway and spend some time healing at the nearest inn.
Assessment won't help you. That's only to see the stats/skills of
opponents in battle.

I don't remember this real specifically. :-( I do remember I had
trouble with this, as I wasn't sure if I'd accomplished anything. I
believe you can actually give her money. I know this game was a pain in
terms of giving inventory to people, cause there were about three
different ways of doing it. I believe you can actually click on money
and get in on your hand icon. Then you can try dragging it to her
picture (without being in the close-up mode). Or in close-up there
might be a little outline of a person in the square where bags are, and
you might be able to drag it there. Unfortunately I don't remember
exactly how this worked. But play around with it. You may not realize
you've accomplished it. She'll give you a kerchief when you succeed.
