This question is off topic here though it is related to adventure games so I
am asking it here. I just bought a playstation portable 3002 and since I
have had a love for adventure games for a many years now I wanted to see if
anyone here knew of any adventure games that are store bought on the PSP.
There is one I have seen and that is Myst, I have played it before on the PC
and would like people here to sugest any othere games of the adventure
genre. Games like old and new point and click are my favorite (eg dos) and
some far and near between. I know I can "mod" my PSP by "unlocking" or
"hacking" it but this is a big no-no to me and I will not do it - I have
seen on youtube someone playing Loom, Monkey Island and other dos games on a
PSP by hacking it, something group members here might be interested in if
they have a PSP and want to play old dos games while on the go in an
airplane or long trip.

Regards to all

I hate to be the one to tell you this but if your main interest is in
adventure gaming you bought the wrong portable system.

I couldn't think of a single one myself, but a quick search on mobygames
reveals about 25 total games of that genre for the PSP - and a good chunk of
those aren't what most here would even consider to be "adventure" (things
like Spyro and Jack and Dexter).

The Nintendo DS on the other hand probably has over a hundred adventure
games and sometimes entire series (like Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton,
CSI, Secret Files, Nancy Drew among others) with some that are exclusive to
that system.

In other words - you might want to reconsider the decision not to hack your
PSP.

Actually this is generally a problem of consoles, usually they brand
games as Adventures which are none. Usually on those systems, pure Jump
and Runs with a little bit of story are considered adventures. Action
heavy action adventures, statless RPGs are branded there as well.
The PSP basically has zero real adventures.

Yes but only a handful is worth playing on that system (Phoenix Wright
for instance and everything from Nintendo - Cing (Hotel Dusk, Another
code etc...)
The problem with most adventure games on that system is that they are
partially straight pc ports and the touchscreen is not really suitable
for fine grained pixel hunting. I tried one or two of those ported games
and they are trash due to broken game mechanics. However adventure games
really tailored for the system usually are very good.

Besides the already mentioned Myst the only other game that I'd recommend is
probably Silent Hill: Shattered Memories which is a remake of the first game
of the series that came out originally for the Playstation (PSX or PS2,
can't remember now even though I've played it back then).

It's a good one but more of a survival horror type game with strong
adventure/puzzle elements, and from what I've read there is no shooting
involved this time around (unlike the original). The PSP and Wii versions
received good reviews across the board and it can probably be had very cheap
these days.
