While battling the guard captain, he'll lose his sword. Give it back to
him and continue the fight.

To become a paladin in QFG2 there are many things you need to do:
Don't become a member of the EOF.
When you get the reward off Rakeesh, give it back.
When you get reward off poet, try to give it back.
When you find the purse near the fountain return it with all the money
to the poet.
You must free the plant woman Julana.
You must use a dispel potion on the beast in the cage somewhere in the
desert.
Do not attack the griffin.
Don't become a member of WIT.
When fighting khaveen at end, fight till you knock the sword out of his
hands, do not kill him then, tell him to pick up his sword and fight.
This is as much as I remember but it should all be there. If you need
more help just E-mail me. If the paladin thing did not work E-mail me
again and I'll see what I am missing.

Actually no restriction on joining EOF or WIT (or trying to join). You can
do both and still be a paladin.
Also, most importantly; DON'T steal anything!

Actually I think if you get the sword from Rakeesh you can choose to be a
Paladin. I started out as a Magic User and I earned enough honor points to
become a Paladin(if I was a Warrior). Rakeesh gave me the _HIS_ sword
and when I loaded(imported) my QFC2 Wizard. I was prompted to choose between
Wizard and Paladin, before I added the 50pts or so for character customization.
Remember to be a Paladin give everything back(or at least try to)
Try to help everyone(Plant, Beast, etc.)
_DO_NOT_STEAL_
Hope this helps

Well, I have an old file from Corey Cole on how to become a paladin.
But I don't know if it is still up to date.
Here it is:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quest for Glory II: How to Become a Paladin
Quest for Glory II has three criteria that determine whether your character
will become a Paladin at the end of the game. By the way, Paladinhood is
recommended primarily for Fighters; becoming a Paladin may hamper the
activities of a Thief, in particular. It is also difficult to perform
certain types of Magic while carrying the Paladin's traditional sword
and shield.
To become a Paladin, you must have achieved an Honor score of at least 75.
You must also have at least 25 Paladin Points as described below (these
and others will be added to your score if/when you become a Paladin).
Finally, you must *not* have done any of certain dishonorable actions:
1. Killing Khaveen when he's unarmed.
2. Taking money from Omar's purse before returning the purse.
3. Having to be reminded (by Uhura) to return Rakeesh's sword.
(You must return it voluntarily.)
4. Entering the "breakin house" in Shapeir.
5. Trying to kill a helpless opponent in your EOF initiation.
Paladin Points are awarded as follows:
1. Return Omar's purse (7 PP).
2. Return Rakeesh's sword (5 PP).
3. Be polite to Aziza (don't get kicked out) (3 PP).
4. Refuse to kill EOF opponent (just say "no") (7 PP).
5. Give money to the beggar more than once (5 PP).
6. Tell Khaveen to retrieve his sword (7 PP).
7. You *lose* 10 Paladin Points if you disturb the Griffin.
(There is a way to get a Griffin feather without bothering
the Griffin.) This was not supposed to have been a total
disqualifier, but it effectively is (since you can get at
most 34 Paladin Points prior to becoming a Paladin, and
losing 10 reduces you to 24 -- below the limit). Sorry!
If we ever do a remake, we'll reduce the penalty to -5.
That's the definitive word. May you become a true Paladin on your Quest!

There's a patch available to fix this, that in QG3 you can pick which
character class you want, regardless of what you were to begin with. I
don't think you can pick paladin tho. I finished QG2 as a
Magicuser/Paladin, but since I didn't have any throwing ability, I
couldn't finish QG3. I never bothered restarting, but that's beside the
point. :)

Yes you can. At least I manage to.

You can gain the throw ability at the beginning of QG3, by using
part of the 50 bonus point on it.
Actually, I think honor has little to do with it. There are certain things
you must do in order to become a paladin in QFG2(to get the sword at the
end of the game)
1. Don't steal.
2. Spare the fighter's life in the EOF test
3. Spare Khaveen's life
4. Return the reward
5. Return Rhakeesh's sword
6. Never get thrown out of Aziza's house
I had 200 honor at the end of the game(gave tons of moeny to the poor =-)
and still didn't become a paladin because I didn't take the EOF test. So I
had to go back and do it...

I was reading a previous post about becoming a Paladin, and apparently
the most important (and obscure) part was not to disturb the Griffin when
taking its feather. Apparently that penalty will make becoming a Paladin
impossible.

Actually, all you have to do is:
1. Don't steal
4. Return the reward
6. Never get thrown out of Aziza's House
I've played wizards that did only these three things (and had Honor =
200, gave a lot of money to the poor) and they became paladins.

Is the paladin test passable if you get to it? I am asking because I
played a thief character and (probably) stole some things (I played QFG2
when it first came out, quite a while ago...), but did get to take the
test. I never figured out how to pass it tho'. So I just proceeded to
finish the game anyway.
Thanks in advance.

But If you are a Fighter you must spare Khaveens life.
As a wizard, you don't have to fight him at all.
I once killed Khaveen when he lost his sword and did not become a
paladin. I restored the game and spared his life then I became a
paladin.
