Doom 1.0 worked under OS/2, but sound effects cut out after a while.
DOOM 1.1 worked fine. DOOM 1.2 displays the title screen, plays
garbled sound, then locks up. I'd really like to get the registered
version, but if it won't run under OS/2, I won't be buying it. Anyone
get this thing to work under OS/2? Anyone think the PC industry needs
to improve compatibility, ease of setup and ease of use? (ID probably
does.)

My advice, either go dual boot, or keep 1.1
I think that every developer should run their program thru os/2, cuz
from what I've noticed, it displays some hard to see bugs (like illegal
386 opcodes) which don't crash DOS immediately (and sometimes not much at
all) but sometimes screw stuff up.. e.g. Rules of Engagement II, works
under DOS, mouse is screwy under OS/2, then crashes (works fine with mouse
disabled).. Occasionally in DOS, mouse screws up then crashes.. Obvious
result of running the game on Os/2 (for developers) they notice bug much
faster and fix it, result: no dos crashes and works under Os/2

If it's really DOS compatible, it'll work under Os/2..
Hell, Wing Commander, X-Wing, and Doom 1.1 (1.2 w/o sound)
work fine under Os/2, what more do you need?

run doom 1.1 under OS/2 but the joystick will lock it up.
1.1 runs with sb card and keyborad/mouse settings.
