I just received Atlantis 3: The New World and cannot get the program to run.

Upon launching, I receive a message "Resolution not found" and then the
program terminates. BTW, no other programs are running.

I installed the patch but that didn't help.

The box says you need DirectX 8, Cryo's website faq says DirectX 7 and the
program tries to install DirectX 7. As it happens, I have DirectX 8
installed.

I recently played Egypt II with the exact same system configuration
without any problems.

Cryo's website does not list any e-mail address for tech support.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Is it worth removing
DirectX 8 and installing DirectX 7 instead?

Appreciate all help.

Gary

It is strange that your box says DirectX 8. My box for Atlantis 3 DVD
says DirectX 7. I only got it yesterday haven't tried to install the game
yet.

Try
tech.s...@cryo-interactive.com
or
game.s...@cryo-interactive.com

These email links are from September last year, so they may not be
good anymore. You could also try plain old
sup...@cryo-interactive.com

You could try changing your desktop resolution before starting
the game to see if that has any effect. Try 640x480, 800x600,
and 1024x768. I'm not sure what resolution the game runs at.

Check your video card drivers to make sure they're compatible
with DirectX 8.

Update to the most recent version of DirectX 8 if you have the
original DirectX 8.0 installed. I assume the most recent version
has bug fixes.

If all else fails, you could try DirectX Buster and reinstall
DirectX 7a to see if it helps. You can download DX7Aeng.exe
from here - 6,341 Kb
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=16819
or find it on a game CD. You may have to install older video card
drivers if you do this, depending on your video card and whether
your current drivers are optimized for DirectX 8 or not.

I just checked the Microsoft site
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/
and they now have a DirectX 9 beta !! ARGGHHH !!!
It never stops...

Gary, I have had to deal with Cryo tech and each time I did I would get the
following email response:
"Hello,

I need information about the drivers of your video card and your sound card.

- From the Windows Task bar, click on START button.
- Choose RUN from the drop down list that now appears.
- Type DXDIAG in the command line window that opens, then click on OK
button.
- From the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click on the SAVE ALL INFORMATION
button.
- Save the file "DxDiag.txt" to your hard drive.
- Once you have the "DxDiag.txt" file, attach it to an email and send me
this email.

If you have no informations, no folder on the DVD, confirm it.

Best Regards,

Customers Service
Cryo France
www.cryo-interactive.com "

Their tech email address is: tech.s...@cryo.fr

My advice to you would be to attach the DX report with your initial request.
It would be great if you could translate the request into French.
Good luck!
