Way too many of them in the early & mid 90s to even think of. Almost none
today.

It is 19 games Ashikaga. Try counting them and you will find it is 19 games.

Yes, but I also only have ten fingers.... ;-)

Anywayz, I mean what's the point of listing your favorite games from 10 to
1, if you have 19 games.... Wouldn't 19 to 1 be more natural? Just
curious. Maybe you have some explanation for that.

But you do also have ten toes, don't you? Try using them too.

Of course I have.

What you looking at is in fact my Inverted Pyramid of Favorite Games which
you could abbrivate to IPFG if you want to.

The games listed at number 10 is games I enjoy to play. I like them, but I
do not like them as much as the games listed on the row starting with a 9.

And guess what, games listed at 9 are games I like very much. More than the
games I listed at the 10-row, but not as much as I like the games listed
at row 8.

I'm sure you have getting the point by now. But the question "Wouldn't 19
to 1 be more natural? might still ring in the head.

And the answer is NO!

The game at number 1 is my very favorite. Zork Nemises is the best adventure
game made all times because it have beatiful art and music, good story and
acting, interesting and fun puzzles etc. There could only be one "the very
best game" on my list. Thats easy.

Also at places 2 - 4 are only one game listed because it is fairly easy to
list them at this level. But further you go away from the number 1 place
you harder it is to graduate the games. The chanses for unfair displacement
increase further from the top. Thats why several games are listed at same
"likeness level".

Thats the reason it looks like it does.

What's your IPFG?

Okay, I am not actually dumb, but if you think so, be my guest. I hope I've
been amiable so far. :-)

<snip>
> What's your IPFG?

For adventure games (it's a tough list):

10 In the First Degree / Black Dahlia
9 LSL6 / Overseer / MI2
8 Spycraft / Return of the Phantom / Sanitarium
7 BS1 / KQ5 / KQ1 / MI3 / Pandora Directive
6 Blade Runner / BS2 / Sam & Max
5 KQ 6 / Count Down / GF / MI1
4 The Dig / UAKM / GK3
3 Martian Memorandom / Loom / FT
2 GK2
1 GK1/TLE

Just some unique games I need to explain why I rank them the way I do.

GK1 has the best settings and feels, and TLE has the best ending ever and
its artistic direction. That's why I pick them for the top spot. Very hard
to say which one is the best because they are so different!

GK2 is by itself being my second favorite, for it's storyline (which is also
true for both games on the first plots).

Only if you consider Planescape: Torment as an adventure game (which is
generally considered as an RPG, but the story structure is actually quite
adventure game like), then it'll be on my second spot as well.

Loom remains to be the most unique game I have ever played. MM is very
revolutionary and with such an imaginative futuristic setting, it's really a
classic. The puzzles in that game are superior than many games.

Count Down is an oldie that is released just before Martian Memorandum, and
by Access as well. It's story is compelling (it's set in Turkey, and the
main character must escape from the political "asylum" first). The action
element is so heartracing, maybe that's why it turned some people off.

I love Blade Runner's interface. My favorite interface of all time. Full
screen makes it very cinematic. It has its flaws, but overall, it's a good
game, with interesting locations.

Spycraft must be the best "gadgets" games I've played. It's fun! Too bad
it's so short.

Return of the Phantom has a very very good story. I love it very much. If
we just rate these games on storyline alone, this one may end up much higher
than it is.

In the First Degree is a game where you play as a lawyer trying to find
enough evidence to prosecute the defendent and put him to jail for life.
The acting is good, I think (it's an FMV), and I like the very original idea
the game has.

I don't think you are dumb. Not very much at least... :-)

Now when we have sorted that out I would like to comment your IPFG.

I have TLE but not played it yet. Mainly because it feels I would miss much
of the plot since I'm not native english speaking. I started it a year ago
and - if I remeber right - people was talking everywhere. But I might give
it a new try soon...

No, it's not an adventure game.

I have Loom in original box including 5 1/4" diskettes and audio tape
cassette. Have not been able to play it since I have not got any oppertunity
to copy the floppys to 3 1/2" or to CD yet. Looking forward to play it...

Blade Runner is lying on my shelf waiting to be played...

Regarding the other games on you list, Spycraft, Return of the Phantom,
First Degree. Are there any acftion elements in them? I usually lose interest
in adventure games with action scenes or timed sequences...

By the way, what is UAKM and FT?

That's okay. English isn't my first language either. The overall feel is
very good, so just play it and enjoy it. The ending is really good, so you
must play it to its end to understand the whole plot.

Your answer is pretty firm, isn't it?

The box says it's RPG/Adventure, but I agree, it's not adventure in the
strictest sense.

Audio tape cassette? If you are able to port them to CD, the tape
soundtracks I mean, please do and I'll pay you for them.

UAKM is Under A Killing Moon (3rd installment of Text Murphy Games). FT is

Spycraft has a few timed sequences, IIRC, but the only one that really

Doesn't TLE also have some timed elements?

Yes for Spycraft. Not so for others.

Some action sequence. The entire game is timed, but you still need to
finish something before other things may happen, so it's a mixed.

Unfortunatly, I have no casette player with audio out connector.
It is more than a radio teather show than just audio tracks.
