I just bought Return To Castle Wolfenstein from CompUSA. Opened the CD
wrapping, put the CD in drive and set to install. Problem is it asks me for
a CD-Key, where exactly is it? I've checked the CD-ROM and can't see
anything that resembles a CD-Key. I see the "M62..." and "M80..." numbers
on the case under the CD itself but nothing that looks like a key. I've
even checked the box and nothing looks familiar.

Any ideas?

Mine was right on front, plastered on with a sticky address-like tab. I
remember when I took the plastic wrapping off the CD case, I was a little
concerned that the tab, if it were plastered onto the plastic, might be
ripped and difficult to read. But the tab was stuck on the CD case itself.
Maybe yours wasn't. I'd check the plastic wrapping, to see if the tab with
the CD key is still on the plastic, CD wrapping.

Poor way for the CD key to be displayed, I'd venture. Anyhow, you only need
to CD key for online play-- at least that's some consolation. But in the
end, if you can't find the key, certainly take the game back to the stores
and get a new copy, this time with a CD key.

I checked the CD case itself, the plastic wrap and the box, nothing that
looks like a CD key. I need the CD-key to install the game. Without it, I
can't install it. I have no interest in playing online...

I recovered it from the trash, checked it and threw it out again. Common
sense says there won't be a CD key on the outside packinging.

Actually on the plastic CD jewel case? ...or on the plastic wrapping which

If you truly bought the game and it has no CD key, then take it back to the
store. They must allow you another copy with a CD key. But I do think
you're wrong in saying you need the CD key for single player-- I never did.

Return the game, damaged box and all. Demand another copy. This whole
thing sounds rather fishy, though. You certainly are not going to get a CD
key here.

After running the installation program, it asks for an installation key
almost immediately; what do I type? If I cancel it, it exits the install
program, if I OK it, it tells me to enter a valid CD key from the jewel
case.

I never asked for a CD key here, did I? The only question I asked in my
original post is where is the CD key on the product I bought. If you want
to get all cynical about it...

Well, then you need a CD key. Take the game back and explain what the
problem is. If you don't do that, then you're left either no game or
searching to find a CD key.

Try ICQing me at 4046944 or email me.

Mail the developer and ask for an CD-key. I had the same problem with

I think there's a problem with the CD key. Mine had a number on the
inside of the DVD style box, but on install I was told it was invalid so
I can't access a game server.

Luckily all I want to do is play single user.

Ideas ?? Email the publishers !
