Discworld - stuck in L Space!

I am in the middle of Act II and I can't get out of L-space! When I try
to go through, it cuts to a scene with Death, War and a few others playing
cards ... then Rincewind goes straight back to L-space.

How do I get out???

Please help ...

Well, I've tried doing that ... the thing is the butterfly seems to go back
to its previous place. I have been into the Hideout and seen all of that,
the book is definitely in place.

Anyone with any other ideas??

Yes. After meeting Death and friends, and being sent back to the past,
just wait around, till the thief appears, and steals the book. You'll find
that time rights itself.
