The clock is working, the little guys are poised to hit the bell, the alarm
is set for 7:15 and I move the hands to 7:15 and try to activate the bell.
No bell. Just Dad looking at the paper or his watch. I've tried variations
like a few seconds before or after but same dead end. I even looked it up
on UHS to make sure I was right. Any help appreciated.

This one stumped me for awhile too. Here's just a hint...focus on the
counter weights.
I'd tell you outright, but I forget exactly what I did, except I remember it
had something to do with the clock counterweights and a kind of
'misdirection' by whomever designed this puzzle. Maybe someone else
remembers more precisely.

I just tried any combination of stupid actions until it worked. IIRC, you
don't have to move the hands of the clock, or wait until 7:15. You just set
the alarm, get the clock ticking, and then click directly on the bell.
I don't think there's any sense to it.

I finally got it. A different cheat site enlightened me. Set the alarm and
then pull the forward counter weight. Leave it spinning wildly and then
strike the alarm bell. <sigh>. Didn't make much sense but the game moved
on happily after that.

Thanks for all the input,
J
