The Dig. Help me please !

I'm stuck in The Dig, and I was hoping someone might be able to
help me out. I'm in the Nexus down the ramp. I have to get the
unattached lens which lays on the bottom of that power generator
thing. It's where you have to punch a code (the instructions), and
then push a triangular button to activate it. Then some kind of flying
bot comes out of a tube in the ceiling and carries out the assignment
you typed in. I can't seem to figure out the correct code ! Can
someone please help me ?

It's been awhile since I played this but... if you look at the control
panel, you'll notice that it's layed out in a specific pattern. A
button toward the top (north), bottom (south), left (west), and right
(east). These are the "controls" for the 'bot'. The center button
actives the bot's claw, to pick up the piece. When you hit the triangle
to active the robot, it will carry out the instructions you programmed
into it. I can't remember the exact sequence, but just enter some up,
up, down, right, right,... sequence and watch what the robot does. Some
experimentation should help you figure out the sequence. Then, for the
last instruction, hit the center button so the robot will pick up the
lens. Now, after all that, you gotta reverse the sequence to get the
robot back up :o) . Hope this helps.

Do not take the blue crystal from the niche in the control
room until after you have powered up.

you can either cheat by looking at a walkthrough or spend some time
trying to control the robot with the controls. Some people may say
that it's easy but I think this part of the game is way to time
consuming to waste your time on. Get past this point and read the
walkthrough. Just my opinion. There are plenty of more reasonable
challenges in the game.

If you look at the consiole you will see four pads surrounding a
center pad, and two others off to the left side which are the erase
all and the erase one buttons. These pads are directions around a
center button which i believe is the pick up or drop button. You need
to enter a series of directional commands, and watch where the robot
goes. Then adjust your commands to get him where he's suppossed to go,
then press the pickup button, then up to where the lens is and then
the drop button (same as pickup). The entire sequence needs to be
input at once as one string so play around with it until you have it
right except don't use the pick up and drop until u get it right.

I cannot find this robt and cannot crack any of the codes to open the doors.
Please help me.

walk until you come to the dark tunnel. WHen you get there go down
the dark ramp (put cursor at bottom of screen) and you will find the
power room. Yu can also enter teh tunnel and go to the airlock room.
When you get to the power room make sure you look closeup at both of
the panels, one has colored buttons and lights and the other has a
triangular panel. You can also look down to see the lens at the
bottom of the power room. Now enter a random string of buttons from
the colored light panel and then walk to the other panel and press the
triangle. Make sure you haven't removed the blue rod from the panel
in the ramp you came down first. Now watch the robot. There is a
direct corrospondence between what you input in the dot panel and the
robots moves. See above for more on the panel control. E-mail me if

The robot is found in the generator room at the bottom of the ramp in
the nexus opposite the cave entrance. Yon can't operate any of the doors
until you have restored main power to the complex. Unfortunately this is
one of the most difficult puzzles and the fact it occurs so early on in
the game makes it very frustrating. I admit I had to get help on this
puzzle so if you need the exact combination to enter in the control
panel let me know. Oh what the heck here is the answer below:

First I need to describe each button and it's function:
Top left - Clear last entry
Top Right - UP
Middle Right - RIGHT
Bottom Right - DOWN
Bottom Left - Clear All
Middle Left - LEFT
Center - GRAB
Now here's how you program the robot to pick up and place the lens to
restore power.
Press the LEFT button five times, DOWN two times, GRAB, UP six times,
GRAB. Now press the button on the left panel to activate the robot. If
you took the blue crystal from the niche replace it or the panel will
not operate. Once main power is restored go ahead and take that crystal
you're going to need it later.
Hope this gets you going. After this puzzle it really is a great
adventure game. I just LUVVVV!!! that awesome soundtrack.
