Paula
It's a while since I played them but they are all enjoyable. If you liked
Secret Files: Tunguska you might also enjoy the follow up - Secret Files 2:
Puritas Cordis.

Yes, I'm very anxiously awaiting Secret Files 2 but it's going to be a
while, I think it's set to release in January? So, I'm looking for
something to occupy me until then. :-) Thank you for your input.
Paula
Haven't played the 'Mystery' games but have two of the 'Art of Murder'
games and enjoyed them. For whatever that is worth. :-)

Are you awaiting a specific language version?
I only ask because I finished that game months ago.
I'm waiting for the English version. Everywhere I have seen says it
will be released in January 2010.
How strange, amazon.co.uk have it in stock and amazon.com are taking
pre-release orders for January.
I can recommend the Demo while you're waiting.
I have downloaded the demo. It just made me more anxious for it.

Paula, where did you find a demo? all I find is "coming soon".
Hi Opsimath,
I'm not Paula, you can get it at Gamershell.com. Below is link. I did a
search for "Secret files 2 Puritas Cordis". Maybe you didn't put in the
"Puritas Cordis" part. "I downloaded the demo before, but haven't got around
to playing it yet.

I played through part of the demo, just enough to know I want the game.
I decided to stop and leave the rest for playing the actual game. I
do look forward to it. My 11yo daughter played through Secret Files:
Tunguska, her first adventure game to actually play to the finish. She
is looking forward to the next one, too.
Paula
Your daughter is doing well. I was playing Runaway 2, but its not holding
much of my interest. I didn't pay much for it. Maybe go back to it sometime.
Nice to see you again :)
Mary
Hi, Mary.
Nice to see you, too. I haven't tried Runaway 2. I could never get
interested in the first one and didn't finish it so I doubt I'd try the
second one. I remember you saying you liked Sherlock Holmes Nemesis. I
have that and plan to play it next. I am going to try to get the ones I
asked about here and try them out after taht. By the way, I've seen
some talk of Syberia 3. I thought of you when I saw that.
Paula
I couldn't get interested in Runaway 1, so I should have known not to buy
Runaway 2, but it was cheap and I had nothing else to play, but even that
wasn't enough motivation to make me want to play Runaway 2. Some people like
it I guess, but its not for me. I think you will like Sherlock Holmes
Nemesis. I really liked it. I also played Dracula Origin and it was OK too,
but I think I told you that I liked Nemesis better. Let me know what you
think when you get into Nemesis a bit. Yes, I saw something about Syberia 3
too, and I would be very pleased if Benot Sokal designed it. He didn't do
very well on Paradise and another game he wrote, forget what its name was,
so if he makes Syberia 3 and if its anything like the first two Syberia
games, he has a chance to redeem himself. :) I figured there would be no
Syberia 3 since Syberia 2 seemed to end the story, but they can always
resurrect it. Would be fine with me. I guess you are waiting for Black
Mirror 2. Me with my Syberia games and you and your Black Mirrors. I liked
Keepsake quite a bit too. Did you say you played it or maybe you didn't
think you would like it?
Mary
Isn't that the English version in the link above ? Looks like there are 2
sellers of used copies.
Mary
Yes its the English version she wants.
> Looks like there are 2
> sellers of used copies.
One of them is a new copy (New and Sealed). Or so it says.
mick
Thanks Mick. I tried to register on the site to buy it but it doesn't
give me the option to register a United States address. I did find the
game on Ebay from a UK seller willing to ship to the US but it says the
game is in PAL format. I'm not sure if I could play it or not but it
said NTSC was compatible in the US and didn't list US as compatible with
PAL. So, I may have to wait until January when the game is available in
the US.
Paula
I started Nemesis last night and didn't care for it. I didn't play very
long so I will go back and give it another chance. I might like the
game if I could get used to the camera controls. It moves around too
much for me and I have never cared for the first person view in games.
From the screenshots I had seen I was under the impression it was a
third person view, which is what I prefer.
I do hope Syberia 3 will be as good as the first two. My daughter
started Syberia 1 and she liked it really well. She hasn't finished it.
She has a habit of playing a lot of different games at once instead of
just playing through one. I am still waiting for Black Mirror 2. I
hope it lives up to the first one. I bought Keepsake for my daughter,
also. Neither one of us has played it yet but I might give it a try.
Just looking at it, it doesn't really appeal to me but if I got into it
I might enjoy it.
Paula
Oh, I thought it was you who wanted it Mick. My mistake :)
Mary

I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't understand that.
Surely PAL/NTSC is a video format; is that relevant to PC games?
You mean you like to see the characters on the screen? I thought some of the
time you see them on the screen in Nemesis, but I forget. I got used to the
camera controls, but takes patience at first. It may not be your kind of
game. Try it again sometime. I found the story and the locations in London
to be interesting. Very historical. I like that kind of thing. Nice graphics
too.

My daughter, who is grown up long ago, has a habit of starting games and
playing them half way or less and stops and goes back 6 months later. She
did that with Black Mirror a couple of years ago, and never finished it. She
did that with Keepsake,
said it was a great game and so far, hasn't finished it. She doesn't play
too many games now, though used to play a lot in the 90's, Kings Quest
games, etc. The only fairly recent one she played all the way through and
never lost interest was Syberia I. She never played Syberia II, though I
have it. Syberia II was good, though IMO, not quite as good as Syberia I.
The story in Syberia I was intriguing. But Syberia II was well worth while
playing. Did you play both Syberias?Beautiful graphics. Benot Skoka is a
wonderful artist. I hope he does another Syberia. Your daughter might like
Keepsake. It may be a bit difficult for her, but with your help and a couple
of walkthroughs she might do OK. Its a good story.
Mary
I think the same thing Vince. I thought a PC game would play OK in any
country as long as the language in the game was one you understand. I also
think PAL/NTSC only applies to video tapes or DVD's unless you have multi
Region player. Doesn't seem relevant to a PC game, unless I've been
mistaken.
Mary
Yes, I like to see the character on the screen as opposed to seeing the
game through the character's eyes. I don't really know why but I've
always preferred that type of game and have a hard time getting
interested in a game that isn't third person view.

I will probably have to help her through Keepsake when she decides to
pick it back up. I decided to give Belief and Betrayal another try. I
had started it a while back and didn't get into it but maybe this time.
If not, I guess I'll replay something until I can buy one of the games
I was asking about.
Paula
I looked it up and from what I see the only difference in PAL/NTSC is in
the resolution of the game. I suppose that wouldn't have any affect on
playing the game.
Paula
I can't see why there would be a difference in the resolution. I don't
suppose it would matter, though I am not positive.
You'd probably be as well just waiting till January. Its not that long. That
way you can be sure when its available in N. America. Also, if you bought it
from the UK, shipping would be more expensive than if you bought it online
in N.America.
Mary
Paula
Probably the best thing Paula. You're really only waiting for Black Mirror
2:)
Mary
Yes, definitely waiting for Black Mirror 2. I hope it lives up to the
first one!
Paula
O
I've played all three. Chronicles of Mystery is good but short. Art of
Murder 2 and Art of Murder 1 are similar, but Art of Murder 2 is
better. Seems like developers refined more of what they were doing and
while I enjoyed both I found second one better.

(There is one timed puzzle that almost everyone struggles with though.
It's hard to get past. I ended up having someone send me a saved game
to get around it.)
