I'm well into the game now, cruising around in Rubacava doing my thing.
I've already managed to get into the elevator in the kitchen at the cat
races, and was working on some related puzzles, but now, the elevator
has mysteriously stopped working! I stand in front of it and puch the
button like I have many times before, but now nothing happens. Is this a
bug?

No, I haven't gotten the briefcase. The elevator simply stopped working.
*sigh* As much as I love this game, I'm a little surprised at the apparent
amount of bugs surfacing. So far I've experienced the following brands of
weirdness:

- Manny sometimes walks continuously in place even when I'm not touching the
controls.
- Sometimes Manny's feet don't move when I walk around, and his "pivot point"

seems to be about 2 meters behind him.
- Freeze-ups on some cinematics.
- A sudden corruption of the saved game, and the program refuses to save or
load. I had to reinstall and start over twice.
- Don't even get me started on elevators.
-Manny walks around offscreen (in the Blue Casket)

Anyway, I'm really not too crazy about starting over... once again I must
appeal to you folks: am I doomed? Do I have to restore to an old saved game
where the elevator DID work? Did any of you have this same problem? Is the
stoppage of the elevator part of the story and I'm just not catching on?

-Maximus

(One last question... have any of you spotted Max from "Sam and Max"
anywhere?)

p.s. I solved the horse picture puzzle all by myself! I am the smartest man
alive! Ha ha ha ha ha!

I've had to completely back-up and re-approach the elevator..seems
there is a hot-spot where your character walks that causes the doors
to open. Try going out of the screen and back in again.

Believe me, you DO need to get back in there even if you already have
the briefcase.

No, he meant the elevator in the pantry, not the elevator to the VIP lounge.
Once you get the suitcase, you never need to go to the wine cellar again
that I know of (but I am only halfway through year 4 and can't say that with
certainty).

The elevator was definitely broken--I got dealt with the problem by restoring
to a previous game where it worked, and finally solving the briefcase puzzle.
I'm now happily in year three, but why do you say I need to get back into the
elevator? You realize I'm talking about the elevator in the kitchen, right?
