Help w/ The Dig - Map Spire Light bridge

I cannot seem to fix the light bridge in the map spire. I found the
following in a walk-through but I can't seem to get it to follow the
rule and using the piece of advice at the end doesn't help because
I've tried so many other things that the crystals and prisms are all
out of alignment.

But this bridge is broken. Open the panel. There are a light
source and 4 prisms. To repair it, it is easy. The rule is: a
light beam only pass 2 crystal, all prisms should be use. So you
should switch the source, find out which prism can deliver the
light to other prisms. (Don't understand? Never mind, switch the
light to the prism between the red and green.)

Does anyone have a more complete description or a diagram?

Nancy - I will attempt to return a favor granted me and my nephew when we
were stuck in the "DIG" and someone helped us.

You only need to align the crystals so the light passes through each
crystal once, with the three colored lines going to their respective
colored crystals. This is easier than it sounds (I actually figured this
puzzle out myself, one of the few I did).
Start with the crystal currently receiving light (I believe it to be the
leftmost one). You'll notice that if you click on the crystal, that will
change the direction of the light leaving the crystal. Click so that none
of the light is wasted (there should only be one or two positions which do
not leave some light unused). Then proceed to the next crystal and do the
same. Click on it until you find the position where no light is wasted.
Continue with the next crystal. If you can find no position which doesn't
waste some light, go back one crystal and choose another position. When
you do get the correct alignment, you'll know because the screen will
automatically exit with Boston saying something like "not bad for never
having taken an engineering course".
