Does anyone have the no-cd patch for Myst 3 Exile? It seems to have been
removed from gamecopyworld. I actually have the DVD version, and I'm not
even sure if the patch will work, but I want to try. It's pretty annoying to
do a full install off the DVD and then find out that I still need to put the
DVD in the drive to play.

I have one, but I think it's from the earlier version of the
game, not the patched version. So I don't think it would
work with version 1.2 of the game.

I never used it. I downloaded it "just in case" after hearing
how others had problems with the copy "protection." It unzips
into an m3.exe that you use to replace the m3.exe in the game
folder.

If you want it, let me know where to send it.
It's about 1.1 MB in size.

You'd probably have better luck with a CD/DVD emulation program.

Is it REALLY that much of a chore to put a single CD in the drive at the
start of your gaming session?

I'm glad you asked. I figured out that one of the reasons I don't play games
as much as I used to is because back in the day, I installed the game to my
hard drive and that was it. I could play whenever I wanted. Now, I have one
CD drive, which I use for other things besides gaming. It REALLY is that
much of a chore to always have to have the CD/DVD on hand, and swap it for
whatever's in the drive, when I happen to have a few spare moments to play.

Jenny,

I think you're right that it won't work, but thanks anyway. I believe
another patch was issued for the 1.2 release. Does anyone have this one?

The problem is not putting the cd into the drive. The problem is finding
the case with that should have the CD in it, and then swearing and finding
the case that actually has the CD in it, and then finding the case to hold
the CD that is already in the drive.

I also really liked the old games that did a hard disk install.

Unfortunately, neither of those links work.
